This story is taken from my first book, Tarona's Ghostly Encounters.

It was in December, 1993, when I was asked by the manager of a Leicester hotel to enlighten them about the hotels ghost.
He informed me the chambermaids had been frightened by this spirit, who, he claimed, was able to boil kettles without the plugs being in the sockets. Several people refused to stay in the hotel after experiencing various sightings.

A paranormal investigator, came along to take sound and temperature readings. Halfway through my interview with the manager, strange things started to happen. The tape recorder switched itself on and off and the video camera refused to work.

The manager told us that on one occasion he had been held by the throat. His wife had often experienced the feeling that something was creeping up behind her. She found ornaments broken after each encounter. The ghostly activity seemed to centre itself in one particular room, number 10. The week before , a Greek guest, who could not speak a word of English, ran out of this room distressed, telling his friend who was staying on another floor that something had been floating midair in his room.
As we made our way to the room, we stopped to admire the beautiful stained glassed windows at the top of the corridor. I opened the door and was hit by a blast of freezing cold air. Only moments later, an air freshener plug shot out of the socket and flew across the room all by itself. This invisible force was warning us that it was here. All of us, manager included witnessed the incident.

Picture's from the second world war became imprinted on my mind and I could see men in air force uniforms running in panic. Next came the image of Sir Winston Churchill, sitting behind a large wooden table. He was puffing on a large cigar while having a meeting with important military men in this very hotel.

Crazy, I thought, but bringing me back to reality was the tremendous pain in both my wrists. They felt as if they had been sliced open. All that was showing were red blotchy scratch marks. Could this ghost have killed himself, I wondered?.

Final part tomorrow.
