What's up, Steemians?

It's been a while...

I've been around the Steem blockchain for nearly three years, and I used to be pretty active. Over the last year and a half or so, though, that hasn't been the case.

Major life changes left me a shell of the person I used to be, but I've spent a lot of time alone recently, reflecting on who I am and who I want to be moving forward. Depression has always been a struggle of mine, but I almost didn't survive 2019. I don't say that lightly, but I'll also say I stood strong against my demons, my only source of strength being the two little humans who call me "Daddy".

After what I've dubbed "The End", I dropped just about every hobby that used to occupy my free time, including my newfound passion for writing that this community brought out of me. The only thing I've really done on the blockchain for some time now is play @splinterlands. I began playing when it first started, and it's been one of the only things that has been able to hold my attention.

I verily want to get back into writing the same sort of fun content I was producing before, especially my science posts. I've started drafts on numerous posts or articles, and ended up scrapping them for this reason or that. Depression and anxiety are no fun, and I just haven't felt like what I was writing was good enough.

I used to make public grandiose plans and announcements about what I was hoping to accomplish, and it led to an overwhelming stress when I failed to deliver. That's something I'll definitely change moving forward, and instead, I'll focus on actually doing more.

The only hint I'll give as to what I have planned is that I've recently begun rewriting my game @thriveordie in a new engine with enough functionality to make it what I truly want it to be. I won't promise when I'll have an update on that, but I'm hoping I'll have a prototype ready soon. If you're a Godot developer, comment below and say hi 😁
