Curation With Style: The Best of the Unmentionables Vol. 1 (19/9/17)
The best of #TheUnmentionables content (19/9/17) - curated with love.
(Huge thanks to @enchantedspirit for becoming our group curator - be sure to give her a follow and some love!)
This post is written as a letter from an ex-smoker to his addiction ... aka his old girl friend. It's an essay that is by turns clever, sincere, poignant and sad. Worth reading for the first-hand experience shared for a problem that never lets go on its own. Stop by and lend your support to his resolve that this break-up is indeed permanent!

The tradition of hiking The Appalachian Trail first came to my attention when some philandering governor here in the U.S. had his staff give that as the reason for his absence while he was off making whoopee with his honey. Well, this post doesn't veer off into any of that, but it will make the couch-potato in you twitch and wonder if maybe you shouldn't get out more.
It's about Ethan and his lovely wife's hike to McAfee's Knob, a place on a stretch along The Appalachian Trail where the workout will get your blood pumping and the views are simply magnificent. Lots of lovely scenery pics, even if my favorite one was of the dinner at the end of the day. (Shame on me!)

Another post that deals with addiction. (Hmmm, am I sensing a theme?) This one, however, is done as a poem ... with striking imagery on the sensations of recovery, learning to feel again, getting back in touch with your physical senses again, coming home to yourself again after a long and painful time away.
The English major/long-time writer in me was impressed right down to my socks with the artistry here and the imagery of the words. Definitely worth a stop -- and a few more of those positive thoughts that the return to reality becomes a reliable way of life for this fellow-writer. (More thoughts here, but I'll save them for another time.)

Somewhere I am sure there are people on Earth who know what our own dear @reggaemuffin is talking about in this post. I am not one of them. So ... I'll let him speak for himself.
"The last days I was busy setting up a seed node for steem. These nodes allow witnesses to get all blockchain data and let them catch up quicker. This means the more seed nodes there are the easier it is for new witnesses to get started and so witnesses who host a seed node have the network in mind when doing so."
If pillow-talk like this tickles your fancy, go for it. Maybe you'll learn something. (P.S. I voted for him as a witness weeks ago 'cause, frankly, I'm crazy about his name. My cat told me this morning he wants me to change HIS name to that one. We'll see.)
@reggaemuffin
Another poem -- about a friendship that almost became a love affair, but didn't. Some interesting thoughts here about courage and cowardice, of love's powerful emotions ... and about holding back until one day, suddenly, it's too late.

Sometimes the hardest part of breaking up a marriage is letting go (somehow) of the fantasy. Dreams, love and hope all die so hard. The end of even a relationship like this is traumatic and terrible. You won't be the same for a while after reading this one. For now, all I can say is, dear @HopeHuggs, at least he finally apologized. Mine never did.

We all have those days. You know the ones I mean -- hard, exhausting, inconvenient, unproductive. And yet, the right smile from the right person at the right time can turn everything around. Bravo for technology!!

If fantasy fiction is more your speed, get a drink, settle back ... and let this one carry you away for a while. We could all use the occasional break from reality. The portal awaits you here.
