Steem is definitely a great cryptocurrency for social apps. Soon after getting really into Steemit's blogging social network, I discovered a bunch of social apps powered by Steem that bring a lot of interesting ideas to the table. Here are a few of them for people who are new like me. If you like Steemit's concept but is not much of a writer this is your chance to find a network that works for you!

DTube

I never thought a video platform could run on crypto but I guess I was wrong. DTube is trying to be an YouTube alternative. It uses a decentralized protocol called IPFS to store the videos and doesn't have annoying ads or tries to impose strict policies to content creators. Much like Steemit, content is moderated with flags from the users.

Its interface is very similar to YouTube's so a new user will immediately identify. The platform is in constant development and you can check out the latest news on the Official Steemit blog.

DLive

DLive is a broadcasting platform much like Twitch. Just sign in using your steemit account and start sharing whatever you want, live for the whole world to see. For what I've seen, 99% of the content there are gameplays (they even have a guide for recording directly from Xbox and Playstation!), I'm personally not very interested in that, but if you are, you will probably have a lot of fun watching lives on the platform.

DMania

If you've ever been to 9gag you will know how this works. DMania is a platform for memes, gifs and more cats than you can count. Users get paid for funny memes so if you have creativity for that you will love this platform.

DSound

I saved my favorite for last. DSound is the wonderful creation of the user @prc and works as a social media for artists, musicians, DJs and everyone that wants to record a sound to be eternalized on the blockchain (great for podcasts too)! So if you have any musical skills please check out this platform, people will love to hear your art.

That's all I got for today but if you know any other apps please comment below. I love to discover these kinds of things!

Til next time,
