I disagree with @ungratefulchump I mean seriously a name like that? :D In all seriousness though #introduceyourself is a rite of passage. It's your one chance at mass visibility. If you do a great job you may walk away with buckets full of cash. But at the least you will find several people and bots who can affirm just how cool you are.

Some of these will follow you and this is how communities are formed.
Now does this mean that the only way to be noticed is by posting there?

No not really. In fact the bulk of my funds, comes from finding interesting content and providing my commentary on it. I make more money, more consistently through commentary , than I do via blogging. Several others do as well.

The truth is that if you just treat this place like reddit and ignore the dollar signs completely, you will find happiness here and every once in awhile you will peek in your wallet to find some extra money. It's nice when it happens.
