speech for change

This is the speech W.O.L.F gave twice on mayday at 2 separate times in seattle at westlake park.

In todays times we face many threats. With so many reasons to be here we can only hope through our efforts change will be made. Our voice must be heard or our efforts will be wasted.

We are not here to scream and yell or act violently. Were not here to create problems yet we cant fix the problems that we face by asking nicely. In the end all we can do is give it our best and do what we feel is right.

The first amendment states:

“ Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances”.

Does it say anywhere we need to ask for permission, set a time, or protest only in certain areas? Does it say we have to respect police authority? How about what to wear, what to say, or how to protest effectively? At what point does being peaceful about the situations we face make us just as responsible for consequences caused by inaction?

So many questions without answers. So much crime without punishment. Its time we set things right!

Today we make a stand! Today the police nor the state rule us. Today as we stand here together change is represented through us. Each and everyone of you here are making a difference.

Police are gearing up today in an effort to keep us under control. To make sure our actions don't go too far. How much is too far when concerning our freedom and basic human rights?

To comply with whatever a officer of law says during a protest against tyranny would defeat the purpose of being here. Were here to change the world. To stand when all others don’t. To be an example to the rest. Its time we showed them our resolve.

With police here to control our movement towards change I think its important to take a moment and reflect how often we the people are mistreated by the very powers that are supposed to protect us.

How many of you have been given huge tickets for nothing, pulled over for no good reason, or thrown in jail on bogus charges? How many of you know or have seen someone killed, mistreated, or silenced by police officers?

This isn’t about hate. It’s not about war hatred or them. It’s about us. It’s about time available for us to make change towards a more positive future. Nobody will silence us, for we are the people.

With bees now on the endangered species list, we now have less time than ever before. We have other pollinators but when a species like the bee goes extinct all other creatures will have to compensate for their lack of presence, this creates a strain on the worlds ability to thrive in our environment. Still even these are not the only problems we face. Air pollution, water contamination, rising water levels, and even wild life extinction are some of the many problems we face today.

With all this we still say were free. When you think freedom what does this include? The freedom to be full healthy and happy? To express yourself anyway you see fit. To sing and dance. Swim cry and laugh. To be human.

What is it to be human? Is it human to look down on others who have less then you? Is it human to profit off suffering rather than cure or ease it? Is it human to watch instead of act? Are you proud to be human?

The day we we wake up and help everyone not just ourselves, can we choose a better way. A better future to strive towards. Not the one we face. When we stand in unity as fellow brothers and sisters, not red, yellow, white, black, or brown can we learn to evolve. To become better as a species.

When did minerals paper and ego become more important then family neighbors and friends? We can do better. We can be stronger. We can change the world!

Please help me. Help yourselves. Help our children and their children so they have a better future. It’s not about us. Its about them. It always has been.

Fight for a better world. It’s worth Fighting for.
