Harvesting Cassava: our new year's day Family Bonding

in #steemit3 days ago

Hello, everyone! Perhaps some places are still waiting for the new year to come but as for where I live, New year's days is over.

May this year be our stepping stone to financial freedom! May God pour us his blessings throughout the year.

I was too tired to post about our preparations last night but it was wonderful yet tiring, lol! Another wonderful time I had with my family. I don't know why but I am always counting the days I spend with them, perhaps because I miss them every day especially when I render long hours of work.

Anyway, the preparations we had last night would require another set of blog but I'm very excited to share with you this wonderful day we had today. Another family bonding at the farm while we are processing my mum's bountiful harvest of cassava.

My sister and her family helped my mum in picking the cassava last week but they could not do it fast because it was raining almost everyday and two days after, they had to leave after they received a call from their home that one of their horses died unexpectedly.

The weather was still very gloomy, in fact while waiting for the new year last night, we experienced alight rain and it even drizzled a few minutes after 12mn which made the fireworks show even wonderful because the colored lights emited by the fireworks, the fog absorbed making the atmosphere glow with colored lights milliseconds before each explosions.

We might have gotten up late today, we got late Breakfast from what was left last night but we still went to the farm and went to work. Huge thanks to my wonderful husband who never fail to see my mum's needs and my heart's desire. He even insisted we spend the night at the farm where I was doing my blog tonight.

This morning, while I was frying the fish, my husband too my place and asked me to prepare our things and even the tent. It was such a huge relief for me because I only had a holiday for one day and my heart's desire was to help my mum because we don't have money to pay for laborers thus we did all the work.

What made me very happy today is that my husband saw that after my nephews and niece, as well as our daughter had to go back to school, there would be no chance to finish the work and I found out that he is already planning what t do next, even took a portion of our budget to pay for the labor. He is a man with a golden heart! .

Since we only had a motorcycle to use for travelling. My husband too my mum, niece and daughter first to the farm and went to take me and our two kids after. It was near lunch when we arrived so I chose to cook food first ( since we have kids with us) since the the weather was gloomy and the sun is nowhere to be seen, my mum did not know that it was already past 12 noon when I went to tell them we should have lunch already.

Two of my kids were like cats and dogs, always having a fight, but it makes me smile too when they go together happily playing. Today was a no-cellphone day for them too.

During lunch, my mum was already getting angry for my nephew who did not come early from a cousin's house but nevertheless, lunch was great and the kids were already hungry and finished their food. We also had a dessert from last night's preparations.

@eylii is getting really good at the farm work and we hope that she wil be a a hardworking in her career as what she had shown in the farm.

We worked while her siblings were playing on the pit they made, they got inside and spent some time just like kids should do.

Soon, Laling went to help but I stopped her before it would be too late and hurt herself

It was already past 5 pm when we stopped our work, if not for the rain, we would have worked until dark. We all got hungry when we arrived at the bungalow, made some coffee and drank. Soon we prepared dinner, and set up our tent to sleep. The kids were too tired already, no wonder since that played too hard on the farm. I was tired also but it was still too got to sleep. I also enjoyed watching the fog come but my camera cannot capture them for me to share.

So that folks is now my new year's day went, tired but satisfied that I rendered some work to save my mum. Tomorrow will be back to normal, another stress to face at work. Thai will be all for now, thank you so much for your never ending support and time. Keep safe, Happy new year!
