Luan and Jared felt very proud that they had learnt so hard the previous day.

Their friends were talking about other things and they joined in. but both were just thinking about their maths that they were learning. 

They were very glad that they really knew one of their maths tables, and they were planning on doing the same with the rest of them. 

They got to school and their teacher was very impressed when she asked who had started, and they and just a few others said they did.

You must know that this is very important to you all and they did, as Luan’s mother will really push them. 

They had brought all their pictures from the day in the forest and at break everyone was looking and saying it must be nice to go there and just watch all the animals. 

Luan said it is as nature is so wonderful, every time they go they find something new and that is what makes it so much fun. They all had their food and after break it was back to school. 

Time felt as if it was going very slowly as they wanted to go home and learn a new multiplication table. 

Later when they got home, Luan’s mother said have you got a lot of homework. No we have nothing is that not nice.  She then said that she would like them to do two tables today the same way they did the previous day.

They were happy that would mean it will go faster if they do more than one a day and they will have a lot of time to practice with Luan’s mother when they know them all. 

It went like that from then on and they really did learn two a day. In the end you could wake them up in the middle of the night and without thinking give you and answer. 

Luan’s mother always said once you know it like that it will stay there forever and you will never struggle with maths. Especially if you learn your rules, just the same way. 

There are many rules to follow and if you know them just as well you will never have problems with your maths. 

We will work on that after the Olympiad and then you two will really be ready for maths for ever. I am so proud of you two. 

You can now go and play because I am happy you know them all and it is just one day before the big day where you will see how it goes.

The teachers all got medals for the first three children in their class and an Olympic cup for the class who win. 

Jared waited for his father to hoot and went home. Life is getting so nice for him. He is really so happy having friends and seeing his father every day. 

That night they both struggled to sleep as they were really nervous, yet they knew it was not necessary.
