The day in the forest.

It was Sunday morning and everyone met up in church. This was a new church for Jared as they had moved, but at least he knew Luan and his parents. 

They introduced Jared’s dad to the new minister and he was very happy to see what good friends the children were. 

After church everyone went home and Luan put old clothes on, so he could go and see all the friends in the forest. He sat waiting for Jared to come with his bicycle and then they will walk to forest and fish as well as feed the rabbits, watch the monkeys  see how many new birds they could find.

Luan had told Jared about the woodpecker and hoped he was still there with his babies to show them to him. 

His father said if you look nicely you should find more baby birds, because it is time for them to hatch. The mothers then feed them till they are big enough to fly. 

Let us see how many you can find today. 

If you do fish remember to put them back, as we do not want to kill these beautiful little fishes for nothing. It will be nice as you have two cameras, now you can borrow my binoculars Jared, and see who  of you find the most animals. 

Try for others as well as they have a way of hiding when they see people.

Off went the two friends, who never realised that they were actually both, very alone and now had some wonderful conversations.  

They had the basket Luan’s mother had packed for them and they were really very happy to sit on the blanket at the water, each with their own binoculars staring at the trees. 

They were talking softly not to frighten the animals away as they did not know Jared as well as they knew Luan. At first they only saw the monkeys, then the deer and of course the rabbits came for their carrots. Jared could not help laughing when he saw them eat the carrots he had not seen it before. Look how his nose move when he eats Jared laughed.

Then Luan saw the woodpecker and explained to Jared where to look. He saw them and he could not stop taking pictures to show his father.

They sat still and listened for a while if they could pin point a bird, and there she was the most beautiful kingfisher in a tree, they had to look up the bird in their book, but they found it in the book and it is the smallest kingfisher you can find.

He was very surprised and they quickly took a picture as they were scared that he would fly away and they might miss him. Then his mate came with food that he had found and they looked very happy.

They had taken a photo of the two. They then read in the book that these birds, watch the river for different types of insects to catch. This is where they get their food. 

They started following them slowly and found a nest with baby birds in. We will have to come back sometime to see the babies, I am so glad we started this with the birds.

Now we might find more birds every time we come as we know how to look. 

They decided to eat a bit and then go fishing for the fun. 

After packing up everything nicely and locking their basket they took their fishing rods and went to the river.

Jared has never caught a fish so he did not know how and Luan showed him. He had hardly put his rod in the river when they saw his rod bending. Luan said you have a fish. I feel I did not know it is such a nice feeling, but Luan helped him get it out nicely and put it back in the water after taking a picture.

 They both really enjoyed their day, but decided they had to get home as they still both had homework and had to go and have dinner at home. Jared said goodbye to the family and drove home with a song in his heart as he knew his father would be there. 

He can now go and tell him everything about their day and show him all the pictures on the camera. When Jared’s father saw him, he was very pleased to see how happy his son was.

He said I think we are going to be very happy here Jared, what do you think? Oh for sure father life has really changed for us in such a short while. I hope that there are more unhappy children who get the chance we got. 

That is very nice of you Jared, to still think of other people and not just about yourself I am proud of you.
