Quick & Fun Experiments: Elephant Toothpaste!

Today's experiment is the elephant toothpaste experiment! This experiment is a fun activity for the whole family and doesn't require a lot of time to prep and complete. If you want to know more about this experiment, keep scrolling down!


What you'll need: 

  • Food colouring of your choice 
  • 3% Hydrogen peroxide
  • 1 Packet of dry yeast
  • 4 Tablespoons of water
  • Empty 2 Liter bottle 
  • Bowl for mixing 
  • Dish wash soap

What to do: 

  1. Pour 240ml of hydrogen peroxide into the 2 liter bottle. 
  2. Add a drop or two of food colouring into the bottle.
  3. Add a squirt of dish wash soap.
  4. In a bowl, combine 1 packet of dry yeast with 4 tablespoons of warm water and mix until the yeast has completely dissolved. 
  5. Now add the yeast mixture into the bottle and watch the chemical reaction happen!
