Games to share with the family

Traditional games can be an excellent alternative to share as a family. Here are some ideas for games you could do inside and outside the home:

  • Hopscotch is a traditional game that develops concentration and dexterity. A doll divided into drawers is drawn. The game begins by putting a chip into the first drawer. Excluding the drawer that contains the chip, it jumps on one foot, all the drawers of the drawing go back and forth, the chip is taken and it leaves. The same process is applied with all the drawers of the drawing. The winner is the one who managed to conclude by placing the card in all the drawers.

  • The game without rubbing you is to appoint a group leader or ringleader as the main axis to develop this activity. The players run and jump over the partner without having to touch the body. If the boss thinks of singing, whistling, or anything else, the others have to imitate him.

  • The rope is a traditional game that requires coordination, speed and dexterity. Two people take the ends of the rope and spin it, the active participants jump it. Accompanying the jumps to the rhythm of shouting: "Nun, widow, single and married, nun, widow, single and married, etc. Loses the person who steps on the rope.

  • Cops and thieves is a game that develops speed and endurance. They are two teams. The police, who tries to catch the thieves and put them in jail. Thieves can be saved by their peers if they are touched in jail. The game ends when all the thieves are in jail.

  • The bags provide agility. Sacks are placed from the feet to the middle of the body. Starting from a starting line, the participants jump until they reach the goal. Win the first one that arrives.

  • The dance of the broom provides rhythm, coordination and speed. The game starts with several couples and one person has a broom as a couple. Everybody dances, the moment when the person who dances with the broom releases the music and picks up another as their partner. Lose that person who repeatedly keeps the broom.

Performing these activities will often help your family stay together as well as help them stay fit and healthy. Your children will develop various skills and simultaneously promote their creativity.

Benefits of playing as a family

We discovered that it is not only beneficial on an individual level for the youngest children to play with puzzles, but it is also a fantastic exercise to encourage socialization and strengthen family ties with parents and siblings.

  • Parents are an essential aspect when a child plays, since they are his reference, those who teach him how and with what to play, when giving him the toys and explain how they work.

  • Through the game parents help children to develop imagination and socialization.

  • The game improves the parent-child relationship. Also, with siblings, makes them know each other and improve the relationship between them.

  • Playing, children will feel that their parents are not only an authority figure that is present in their education, but also in fun and enjoyment. This is also an important way of expressing affection.

  • When a child finishes a puzzle or places a piece well, and adults congratulate him or her for it, they contribute to improving their self-esteem and motivation. The positive feeling that occurs in the child makes him want to repeat it more frequently and to face more challenges and new activities.

  • The game also shows what are the abilities, limitations and virtues of children, which for parents is a valuable information about the skills, tastes and character of their children.

  • Playing is a great way to learn from one another, because children can teach things to parents through play, just as parents teach their children.

  • It is a source of experimentation and knowledge of oneself and those around him, both with parents and with siblings, since they learn by playing together and observing each other. In addition, they become aware of belonging to a group.

  • They also learn to relate, respect and comply with social norms to integrate better in the group.

  • Playing with children is a way of knowing their needs and interests, because children often express their feelings and concerns through the game.

The important thing in the game is not the final result, who wins or who loses, but the whole process and the time that has been shared. Finally, it is important to bear in mind that not only is it necessary to play as a family, children must also learn to play alone and with their peers.

What a nice post, and some interesting games. I found your post because @revisesociology featured you in the "Pay it Forward" contest.

I'm very happy, what is the contest about?

It really is about "people"..How it works is we select 3 people that we either follow or who we found that has some great quality content. You make a post where you make a short paragraph,(couple of lines) about the person, their REP level (it has to be 50 or less), and put a link to their most current post. You drop a link to your post in the contest page, then all the contestants go and look at the other peoples picks, and you can vote or just leave a comment. Like how I got to your page. Then when I was done with the people that @revisesociology picked I let him know and gave him a vote. So not so much about a contest as it is about sharing interesting content with each other.

I am happy friend, greetings .. I hope to help in this platform.

I am happy friend

Awesome post @frankcalvo. Such wonderful suggestions, I think we can find you some other jump rope songs, so you can change them out. It's all very pertinent. People in general have gotten lazy and I think most 'hyperactive' kids nowadays are mostly kids that don't get to go out and play.

Love the idea of encouraging kids to get outside and play!
