The Nouns (PART I): Class for 3rd and 4th grade /I have fun and I learn with Genesis
This class is based on the criterion of teaching elementary school children in the Spanish language, who will learn to use the following punctuation marks in an appropriate way, respecting the learning criteria that may exist in English or in other languages.
The Nouns
Nouns are words that define or name people, animals, plants, places or things.
(Genre and Number)...(Common - Own)...(Concrete - Adstrato)
- NAMES -> Rachel - Jeremiah
- ANIMALS -> Lion - Elephant
- PLANTS -> Tree - Rosa
- PLACES -> Spain - Beaches
- THINGS -> Shoes - Coins
The gender of the noun
The gender in the noun can be Feminine or Masculine
Feminine - Girl - Grandmother- Mom - Sheep - Table
Masculine - Child - Grandfather - Pope - Tiger - Shoe
The Number of the noun
The number of the noun can be singular or plural
SINGULAR -> turtle (refers to a single element)
PLURAL -> Balls (refers to two or more elements)
Note: There are the same words in singular and plural as "Umbrella"
SINGULAR -> The umbrella (one only)
PLURAL -> Umbrellas (several)
How to change the words from singular to plural?
Let's see:
Adding [s] or [is] to the noun.
Example
Squirrel (one) Squirrels (several) only needed to add s to the end of the noun
Flower (one) flowers (Several) in this nouns we add the es.
Common and propper nouns
Common nouns name any person, animal or thing without distinguishing the rest of their class.
Let's see this example to understand:
City, cats, men - There are many cities, cats and men, no one is named in specific.
Own nouns name any person, animal or thing distinguishing it from the rest of its class.
For example:
Madrid (city), Rexo (animal), Pedro (person) - These are proper nouns because the person, animal or thing is specified.
Attention! THAT YOU WILL NOT FORGET. All proper nouns are capitalized at the beginning of the word.
Substantives Concrete and abstract.
Concrete nouns,
Name beings that we perceive through the senses, that is, we can see, hear, touch or smell.
For example
Phone - We can see and touch it
Ball - you can see and touch
Child - You can see, touch, smell and hear
Abstract nouns,
Are ideas or feelings that we can not perceive through the senses.
Let's see the following example:
Love, joy, friendship - These are feelings that we can not touch, smell, see or hear.
