5 Things Kids Can Do With Bubble Wrap

Kids bored out of their minds? Time to ship your creativity into shape and whip out some ideas that will entertain the youngsters and stir the fun. You really don’t have to be extravagant either, in fact there are tons of things that can keep kids busy for hours by simply raiding your cupboards for bits and bobs that you are already likely to have.  For example: BUBBLE WRAP

I often order things online and when they are delivered they come covered in meters of often unnecessary bubble wrap. I cringe at the idea of throwing the stuff away, so I hoard it hoping that it will have its moment to shine again in the future. And shine it will!

5 Things Kids Can Do With Bubble Wrap

1: Paint With It

Cut your bubble wrap into shapes and use them as stamps. Paint your cut-outs and then press the painted side on to a piece of paper to create a “bubbly” effect.

2: A Bumpy Road

Use the bubble wrap to create a road for cars and trucks to drive along. As the cars zoom over the bumps they’ll pop and crackle! Cut out long strips of the plastic and stick them together on the floor to create a long and winding road.

3: Bubble Wrap Boots

Cover your kid’s feet with layers of bubble wrap and secure them on with tape to create popping and stomping boots! Give the kids prompts like “hop like a bunny” or “stomp like an elephant” to add to the fun and creativity.

4: Shaving Cream and Bubble Wrap

This is a sensory play activity and is ideal for toddlers. Simply spray blobs of shaving foam onto sheets of bubble wrap (feel free to add some food colouring) and let the kids smear, mush and pop everything together.

5: Create Critters

Use your bubble wraps and a few other bits and bobs like string and tape to shape and mold your own creatures and critters. Use googly eyes and a touch of paint to make them look more “realistic”.

Bubble wrap is more than just a packaging solution, it’s a lifesaver! Cure boredom and recycle your plastic at the same time by putting it to good, fun and often educational use. It’s POPPING good fun!
