Chocolate Musuem in Davao City

in #steemitfamilyph7 years ago (edited)

Saturday, the best day of the week, why? Because it means day off. I always look forward to weekend days off because I can finally do house chores, important errands or go to places I’ve never been to. I’ve been living here in Davao 34 years already and still there are places that I haven’t been to. It’s either I do not have the budget or transportation problems. But this particular Saturday, the weather was good and I feel like going somewhere. So we decided to ride our scooter and just go somewhere south.

I’m just glad we have Google maps because we ended going to Malagos Garden Resort. When we got in the place, I feel like I’m back to kindergarten again, like a child going to a field trip. I was so thrilled I keep going here and there coz I don’t know where to go first.

We paid P200 for the entrance and that’s already and all-access of the whole resort plus we have a Map. It’s like going treasure hunting with lots of adventure awaits. The resort had a whole lot of beautiful sites to offer.
So let the adventure begin…

Since the resort’s land area is so big, it’s either you visit each site by walking/trekking or if you have extra budget you may tour the whole resort by renting a bicycle. It’s been how many years since I last rode one which makes me feel nostalgic of this experience.

First stop is the science park; this particular area is all about science. They have cute rides which are really fun and they have a lot of science concepts which is really cool. Now kids will surely love this area. Not only they will have fun but they will surely learn a lot. At the center of the park is a big tree house where you can use the stairs going up and do bird watching at the top.

Next is the Malagos Butterfly Sanctuary which is a first time up close and personal experience with the butterflies of different colors. The dome is filled with plants and flowers and a lot o colorful butterflies flying around or just resting on the plants. You can take close up pictures and walk around the garden filled with butterflies.

or if you want to be just like butterflies too. (I feel like a fairy in the Everwing game here)

Once you go out from the sanctuary, you will see the butterfly museum wherein they have preserved different species of butterflies.

Next stop, the bird sanctuary. This area does not only features different kinds of birds but you've got to feed them personally.

The next area is the highlight of the whole resort - The Chocolate Museum.

Everybody loves chocolate and I feel like I am in a chocolate heaven. From outside the museum you can really smell the chocolate because the museum is build inside a chocolate factory. The concept of the museum is to educate the visitors of the process of making chocolates which is what they call the "tree to bar" experience. It also features the history of the chocolate, replicas of how they harvest cacao and how it is made into a chocolate bar.

They even have a section of the museum where you can make and design your own chocolate.

Just outside the chocolate museum is a mini sweets park, which has giant ice cream, cakes, donuts and candies which is perfect for picture taking and instagrammable.

After the whole day of biking around, checking out each area in the resort, I have ended it the sweetest and the most relaxing way. Finally, I got to taste the resorts best cacao made cake (locally called tablea cake) and right infront of the cafe is their swimming pool. Aaahhh ...this is day off!!

Summer is just around the corner. Beach is not the only option to enjoy the summer but this place is indeed a nice place to unwind and enjoy nature while learning and having fun. I have truly enjoyed the whole resort and I will definitely come back for more chocolates.

Malagos has changed so much since my last visit there (about 10 years ago! lol) and your post got me excited to check it out. I'll make sure to drop by during our vacay in Davao. Thank you for such a well-written post!

yes there's a lot of improvement already. My last visit here was way back in College, and they only have the pool, cottages and butterfly garden. This time the resort offers more interesting sites, entrance fee is so worth it. :) Chocolate Museum is something to look forward to when you visit here. :)
