And I have found it to work in two ways:

a. Adding two back-ticks before and after the markdown syntax

**this is a bold word** - output - this is a bold word

or b. you can use <code> before and after the command </code> at the end

<code> > goodmorning </code> output will be >>>>>>

goodmorning
