The Steemit Name Challenge - @lemouth
I don’t like challenge… But I resigned after the joint assault of @ruth-girl, @reggaemuffin, @fredrikaa. Guys and girl… you got me… pfff....
Let’s start with the rules
- Tell us in a post how you chose the current Steemit username you have. The story behind it.
- Tell us your real name!
- If you could change your current username, which name would you choose and why? If you have a possible usernames list, mention it!
- Use the tag #steemitnamechallenge so that the creator of the challenge can track all the posts and check them out
- Nominate 5 people for this challenge
The origins of my username
My username dates from the time I was spending half of my time in Lausanne in Switzerland, when I was at the same time a PhD student at the Laboratory of Subatomic Physics and Cosmology in Grenoble. Yeah, this is more than 10 years ago. I was kind of youngish and unconscious during those days…
Once @lamouthe and I were walking down the streets in Lausanne, and at some point we saw a poster of that featured a mammoth. It was written, in French, something that we could translate by thick-haired mammoth. Moreover, the mammoth was fully red-haired.

For those who saw me face-to-face, I have a red beard… At that time, I had not the full beard, but just a goatee, and it was pretty thick…
Yeah the connection becomes apparent...
We both laughed and from that day I became ‘le mammouth’ (in French) or ‘mon mammouth’ (but strictly reserved for @lamouthe).
As this was way too long for a nickname, it was quickly abbreviated in lemouth. And this stays accros time.
My real name
This does not matter, even if I don’t especially hide it. In short, if you want to know, just look for it by yourself :)
Changing my username?
Lemouth is my brand… I am known within my friends (and even some colleagues) as lemouth. Furthermore, my wife is lamouthe, my sons are nicknamed as the maxithillon and the minithillon (the ‘th’ originates from ‘mouth’), etc…
So no thanks! No way to change this. This will stay at least forever! :)
The tag has been added
5 nominees (+ 1 free)
It was not too hard to find 5 people who didn’t do the challenge yet… But at the end here they are: @lamouthe, @nickskywalker, @planetenamek, @zest, and even if they won't probably do it: @justtryme90 and @mobbs.
Who knows, maybe after insisting, some of them may do it :)
We've hearing you called lemouth since we met you, funny to ear where it come from!!! Not like you, I do love challenge ;) so I will post pretty soon about it :)
I know you like challenges... Therefore the mention :p
It's a cool challenge indeed! We will be answering qwickly in this comment:
First, LPV stands for "Les Pitchous Voyages" meaning "the Pitchou's are travalling"
What is a Pitchou you might ask... Well in the south of France, a Pitchoune is a kid, and in Marseille specificly, the word for it is "Pitchou" and that is what we call each other, and what our friends call us.. I think it represents us well beacause even though we have been adults for a few years, we still have children eyes when we look at the world :-)
Our names are no secret, you will find them in our vidéos ;-)
If we had something to change, it would be not to start a username with a "I" or an "L" .. it is to much confusing...
It's cool that's your whole family has a nikname similar to yours!
All the best,
Les Pitchous
I think that the first time I cross your path on Steemit, I read lpv as Ipv with a capital 'i' :) It was cool to listen to your radio performance the other day ^^
So replies in this post are also accepted as entries? Like @lpv did.
I don't know. I am not the one who organizes this challenge :)
See? It was not that difficult :P
blablablabla.... In exchange, you will have to wait more for the post on Anita :D
That's ok. I guess you needed some more time to rest in between your posts, didn't you? :P
Yeah,... Anita will wait for a couple of more days :)
That turned out better than expected :P
For once a story of a name that had me smiling at one point ^^
Haha... Really? :D
That's actually pretty neat! A good bit more interesting than my username story.
Still time to change, or is it too late? :D
Hah, no, I actually like my username- it's just that my name is actually Mountain. So my username isn't very interesting, though my name is.
If your username is your name and if your name is interesting, then your username is interesting, isn't it? :D
Good story.
... and now we know the origin of your badge...
Yep: pixabay (and @suesa) :D
And i had thought it had to do with "mouth" in English looool, i was way off !!
oh and i just learnt about your lesmouths travel account, "lesmouths" accounts have taken over steemit :D
Indeed, this has nothing do to with our mouths :
This is our secret plan to rule the world :)
btw i've visited steemSTEM discord channel few times recently, haven't been lucky enough to see you guys online!
And i've been upvoting and commenting on some nice steemSTEM posts. Hoping this turns out helpful to the community :)
Any "engagement contribution" (let's call this this way) is useful and appreciated! Thanks a lot!
For the discord, I am often there, but the hours vary according to the timezone I am in, as you can guess :)
Lol. It's really cool you picked up the challenge. Now I've known how your nickname came.
I think I already know your real name :D. I saw your name tag on the CERN post :)
P.S: My own challenge was pretty easy, because everyone would guess how "Samminator" came to be :)
Yeah but not everyone has seen that post. Anyways, as I said, this is not a secret. After all, I discuss sometimes my own research here, so that you can easily find out who I am :)
i have a vague idea ;)
Yes I know sir. And I should be more keen to observe details :)
By the way, there is always a little hidden unrelated detail in all my posts. But not in this one :D
Lol. If I gather the fragments of the little unrelated details from your posts, I could make up a complete "whole info" :D
Of course you could! But will you do it? :D
Challenge accepted sir :)
I keep telling people it's just my name... I can't flesh those four words out into a post... I've tried...
I prefer to just see your name as 'the mouth'
yum yum :D
That's a great origin for your name, @lemouth! I have always read it as "le mouth", thinking it was a mix between english and french. It makes a lot more sense to think of you as a red-haired mammoth than being called "the mouth" ;)
A big big heavy mammoth :D
I actually never make the connection with the English "mouth". That sounds weird... It sounds better when pronounced in a French way ;)
