Learning To Laugh, poetry by @naquoya.

Day 24 of 100 for @d-pend's Poetry Challenge

Learning To Laugh

Manic thoughts, a life in review.
A jumbled mess of pieces that await.
Will the player step up - take his place -
laugh in God's face, laugh till he's blue?

It's not found in the good book,
though one can read it between lines.
Perhaps dreamed into existence,
dreamed into view.
Just like me, just like you.
Like all the good things we do.
Such as laugh in God's face.
Laugh till we're blue.

A child laughs.
It's more than enough;
he hasn't learned to forget.
On a photon of hope,
he rides the waves to a destiny renewed.
From a picture he painted
with all the colours he could choose.
He learned to laugh in God's face.
He learned to laugh till he's blue.

Heavy but beautiful post ...

Thank you.

The first picture had me cracking. Nice one mate

Suits the mood for this poem, so it was good to find that one.

There's something between the lines and I am not sure if I am getting or not. My interpretation would be that life may be a mess and all that, but we have the power to dream into reality some hope, and like an innocent child, we learn to laugh and move on by not getting stuck on the details of reality. It may be far off from what you intended, but that is the beauty of poetry and I have no doubt you will enjoy reading my interpretation :P

This poem is really speaking about the absurdity of life. The mention of God is a reference, or a metaphor, to life itself. Laughing in God's face is about standing up to the difficulty of life, no matter what, and seeing the funny side, the humour, in what is ultimately, a very weird experience. So what you are saying is very near to what I was implying, and like you say, the beauty of poetry is to be able to have your own interpretation. That is often a gift also for the poet, when new interpretation are offered. Thanks for reading and commenting.

A child laughs.
It's more than enough;
he hasn't learned to forget.

Maybe this is one of the most important things my children are teaching me, to reconnect to that pure innocence that exists within all of us. Laughter is medicine.

I think some children know more than they are letting on about. Memory is a funny thing. And then life perhaps teaches them to forget all they know and become more human. Or perhaps we do that to them? But they are still children, they still contain that something magical, and that's what I was trying to get at with these words. So yes, laughter is medicine. Often the best kind. Thanks for your comment.

You just keep coming up with the goods. Nice work... Again..

Thanks for reading, and your gracious comment :)

Excellent work with words, my friend @naquoya. I take off my hat and, surfing the wave of the poem, from now on I will try to laugh until I turn blue.

I try to laugh till I'm blue, but it doesn't happen everyday. Some days I laugh, some days I cry, but it all seems to work out in the end. Thank you for your comment :)

This was such a great read! I miss reading your lyrical poetry, mate. It seems that I'm away when you're active and you're away when it's my turn. I hope that your health is on the up and up, bud!
