POETRY | DAY 25 | The Smile

The Smile, poetry by @naquoya.

Day 25 of 100 for @d-pend's Poetry Challenge

The Smile

A smile I give.
It's not much I know.
But it comes without needs,
expectations,
or thoughts of return.

A simple thing
that reminds me of life.
A joyous laughter,
a birds morning song,
a child's beaming eyes,
the sun's ray of light.

A smile I give
because it's been given to me.
Bringing remembrances
of what life
is trying to mean.

I am always amazed when I read something that creates such a visual, such a feeling in so few words. It is a skill I am not good at, so I think it is all the more impressive to me. You have a talent!

Thank you for your kind words. I think poetry can be good practice for experimenting with different word counts, but getting a clear point across in those words is the challenge. I'm glad I succeeded today, although I'm not sure I always do so.

A smile is definitely a very powerful tool. I have been using it a lot lately and the results are tremendous. Such a sweet poem btw. Something worth getting printed and hanging on your bedroom wall.

Smiles, like laughter can help dissolve physical and mental tensions. I think they are like a symbol of peace. They may not solves all issues, but they express an intent, to both others, and even to ourselves. And this matters. I like your idea of printing and hanging it up. I hadn't thought of that.
