Day 34 of 100 for @d-pend's Poetry Challenge

Backwards Man

Do you want to think about it?
Take your time to review it all.
And if you wait long enough
you'll see him passing your way again.
The Backwards Man walks this path.
Always has, always will.
So stick out your thumb and hitch a ride
To the beginning of forevermore.

The Big Bang explodes inside your soul.
Inside your mind where treasures are held.
The Backwards Man is looking.
What do you think he is going to find?
Whistling the tune, finding the beat,
circling the wagons around us all
Yet the question is inside your mind
begging him to leave you alone.

You sent out all of the invites,
wrote up the notes with words
that took on the shape and form
of ten thousand yesterdays.
And the Backwards Man walks in
and takes up residence where a hole exists.
Whilst you were fishing for an answer
that grows only in a day we have yet to see

The Backwards Man withers.
The Backward Man dies.
In a world of filtered regret and remorse.
Where armies die a lonely death.
A black world turns silver
with lines made of gold.
And the rage that built all of our yesterdays
steps aside for tomorrows intent.

I like the title "Backward man" and I like the way this ends. Just what do we do with Backward man? My suggestion is to let him speak until he has no more to say while moving forward to the unknown.

Let him speak - good suggestion. We can learn from all and in many ways.

I did enjoy it... Gonna follow in a bit

Thank you :)

Not very good with poetry, but it sounds hopeful!

I like to think it is hopeful. My poetry tends to be somewhat dark at times, but with steering in the direction of hope, as indicated especially with the last two lines:

And the rage that built all of our yesterdays
steps aside for tomorrows intent.

Thank you explaining. :D

I like the lulling tone of this poem. It makes the Backwards Man spooky. 😎

Spooky works for me, at least with what I was aiming for with this. A sense of entrapment in the past, and fixation.

Very interesting poem @naquoya I really enjoyed it. Poetry has always been a wonderful way to express yourself. I just love poems.

Thank you, I'm happy to hear that :)
