Day 43 of 100 for @d-pend's Poetry Challenge

Drip Fed On Daydreams

The exhaustion of a lifetime
playing hide and seek
from the ghosts that haunt
and the dark that speaks

Encapsulated in riddles
that do more than they say
but less than is hoped for
with each passing day

But the body is weary
and the mind plays its games
reading more into the nonsense
that others send this way

Life's such a wonder
when it's not such a bore
paying off the pied piper
before he comes back for more

If you seek solace from angels
and speak in the right tongues
you'll fool all the right people
and won't that be fun?

But it won't chase away the darkness
weary to the bone as you are
Dream of a day less brittle
Perhaps beyond the next star

Hey, I'm thinking about you. I hope you are hanging in there.

Me too. Would love to see an update, @naquoya. You are missed!

:)

That looks almost like a whole smile!

Rough month, but doing okay. Thanks for the message.

The exhaustion of a lifetime

Seems that way sometimes. Love this poem. Keep it up.

And don't I know it :). Thanks for the comment.

The poetry brings to light unsuspected potentialities. I love the game Light-dark, present.

In a way life is one big potentiality. Learning to play the game is the difficulty.

wow @naquoya - wha a brilliant piece of writing. You know, I think that this circling thought process which you have so eloquently described is something that a lot more people experience than we realise.

Lovely work as always! :)

Sometimes I think I evaluate in circles trying to find a central point of understanding. Somewhere in that haze is something that will make sense - I hope :)

I concur! :)

When we allow others to dictate...

I think you captured the essence of what I was getting at with those words.

:) I miss your poetry Scott and this one just just makes me jumpy, curious and more.

Sorry for my absence (my health goes up and down). It's interesting the reaction that this poem brings out in you. Jumpy and curious - which makes me curious! It's good (from an author's perspective) when words can cause an emotional response, and even stir the thoughts. Thanks for the feedback :)

Always looking forward to your posts. I thought I'm the only one who went MIA. I'm sorry to hear about your health. Are you feeling better now?

You either find it right where you are or you don't find it:) Clever and well-constructed write, Naquoya:)

And it's probably easier to find when we start playing our own game and not one dictated by others. Right where we are, indeed :)

I missed a lot of this, and I hang my head in shame. It's unfortunate that I was super active during your time away, and vice versa. When will we ever coincide again?? I missed your words, mate. Your skill never dulls. Really though, I think you're like fine wine. You only get better with age. I hope this comment finds you in high health, brother!

Sorry to have missed your comment. Hope all is well :)
