Steemit in Arewa

Arewa is a Hausa language term used in reference to the Northern Nigeria.

In population, Africa is the second biggest continent in the world Wikipedia. Nigeria is the largest in Africa according to World Atlas . Then in Nigeria, Arewa (The Northern Nigeria) has the largest population densityWikipedia.

With these brief statistics, I am trying to explain the bundle of opportunities and equally tons of problems within these places.

Arewa is filled with large population of youths and teenagers who are very less experienced and educated about Internet and the power of blockchain, cryptocurrencies and/or steemit.

I wasn't born here in the Northern Nigeria. I was born and raised in the South-western part of Nigeria. I grew up around innovations and technology. I moved to Bauchi State (Northern-East) 8 years ago and it was completely different for me.

Over the years, I've seen countless opportunities that can only be utilised by the people of the other segments of the country. Because of the high level of illiteracy and poor system of communication within these places, it's hard for the youths to participate in various projects, events, platforms, and tech forums within the continent.

War Ravaged...

The battle against terrorism, communal crises and conflicts in some parts of the Arewa is another factor that has limited the level of opportunities flowing into the region.

But...

Google, Facebook, Digital Ocean, WordPress, TedX and a number of tech giants are now utilising this opportunity to introduce their brands and their technologies to the Arewa. Through several projects, hackathons, competitions, forums, meet ups, DevOps etc, Arewa is growing!

The teeming population of vibrant young and talented individuals have started getting their hands on valuable skills. Many are now interested in Internet and technologies, and the numerous opportunities around these areas.

Steemit in Arewa

The Steem blockchain is a very unique and interesting one. Creating and giving everyone an opportunity to participate in the blockchain and equally build his/her dreams with steemit. Whether you are a writer or a teacher, a photographer or a graphix artist, a singer or a drummer, an artist or a student, a V-logger or a painter etc, steemit is a perfect place to start living your dreams. Creating a culture, a community or finding one on steemit is pretty much easier.

I have been on steemit.com for some months now and I'm super excited about the experience so far. I've been doing much work for communities and groups more than I've done solo.

So now, I've decided to reach more people in the Northern Nigeria to Preach Steem to the youths, the students, corporate guys and virtually everyone. I believe this project will greatly promote the steem platform to a very wider audience.

Global adoption of steem blockchain is possible! ~ Steemjet

The Concept

This campaign will be in form of a workshop with Q&A sessions whereby the participants can learn about Steemit and its functionalities, ask questions and resources. It's going to be a very interactive process. Not a pitch or marketing kind of thing but pure exchange of ideas.

The Plan

The plan is direct, transparent, and a big one. I hope I can get solid support from the community here. I knew of couple of great guys helping out in promoting Steem. Persons like @surfyogi, @donkeypong, @surpassinggoogle, @steemjet , @dimimp, @lukestokes @teamsteem, @fundition, @steemcamp and many witnesses on the steemit.

Arewa (Northern Nigeria) is divided into 18 provinces:
Bauchi, Benue, Borno, Kano, Katsina, Plateau, Taraba, Niger, Adamawa, Kaduna, Sokoto, Gombe, Jigawa, Kebbi, Kogi, Nassarawa, Yobe, and Zamfara.

So, I'm planning to start with the students. They're the first individuals with the ready skills that'll benefit both the Steemit and Arewa. We're working on something titled "Arewa Steemit Campus Meet-ups". This will introduce the students to blockchain, cryptocurrencies, steemit and how steemit can propel their crafts and skills. This will run for 2-3 months and will take place at different campuses within the Arewa.

Then...

On successful completion of the Steem "Arewa Steemit Campus Meet-ups", we can then extend the campaign to other demographics or classes of people like the corporate workers and general public within the environment. But, a step a time they said.

The Budget

The budget is quite heavy for me to fully fund. I'll request for support both in funding, moral and/or in provision of any necessary materials that may aid the campaign.

I'm budgeting about 1000 steem to fully fund this and below is an abridged estimated cost of the campaigns.

HeadCostRemarks
Renting of venues:Approx. 200steem~
Hotel Expenses:100 steem(including feedings)
Printing of T-shirts70 steem
Printing and distribution of materials50 steem(pamphlets, billboards and PDF)
Purchase of mid-range laptops500 steemto be given to dedicated candidates
Logistics and Others100 steemto cover overhead expenses
Total= 1020 steem

Lastly

I will greatly appreciate the support from everyone in whatever capacity. Arewa is a grossly neglected and under privileged part of the country with heavily promising individuals that'll be positively affected by this initiative.

So, let's Preach the Steem!

Thank you!

Yeah this is true. While most awareness campaigns are carried out in various places in Nigeria we tend to forget the most populated, the northerners. They too deserve the right to use these platforms and unfortunately they don't know about it.
This is really a big project and I hope you'd be able to get sufficient funds to finish it.

Thank you @lifeofdarlington for the kind words.

It will be very much appreciated if we can have the needed support from the community. I really wanted the project to be sponsored by Steemjet @steemjet. This will be a perfect example of using a stone to kill two birds.

I've messaged @lordjames about this and I'm awaiting his response. Thank you so much.
