Steem: Getting Paid To Press A ButtonsteemCreated with Sketch.

in #steemleo5 years ago

There was a popular show on television in the United States called "Dirty Jobs". It was fairly popular and had a long run if I recall correctly.

The premise of the show was the host would go into different areas to uncover what people did. He would join those working in that field to show what the job was really like. The jobs would include things such as cleaning out grain silos or working in the sewer systems. It really showed what some people did to earn a living.

Over the last few years, we started to see the ramp up of Web 3.0. While still in the early stages, we are beginning to see the framework of what we will have in the future. The idea of "Getting Paid For __________" is becoming evident.

With some of the changes to Steem, including the addition of Steem-Engine, we are seeing another for of getting paid emphasized.

Steemians now are encouraged to get paid for pressing the button on their mouse.

Of course, there is more to curating than simply running through and pressing a button 10x a day. However, when you think about it, this is essentially what we are doing. Every vote has value. Certainly, many accounts do not have a ton of SP meaning their payout is negligible. However, with the use of SE tokens, this can change.

As I wrote the other day, there are a lot more Whales on Steem than just a few months ago. Many of these do not meet the criteria via SP. That is still a very select group and most likely will remain that way for a while.

However, there are Whales in the different tribes. These people amassed a large stake in the layer 2 solutions which gives them a substantial amount of voting power. Even those who are not quite at that level can see a significant impact through one upvote.

Since the introduction, I opened up a few accounts simply for curating. There is very little SP in the accounts but, depending upon the tribe, could be a fair amount of that token. These accounts are earning me a payback simply because I am building the stake in them as much as I can. This increases the return I am making (in that currency) which, hopefully, translating into a nice run in the future.

Obviously, I still am creating content and believe that to be important. However, supporting different communities is essential. For example, in my LEO account, I amasses somewhere around 7,000 LEO which translated into over 500 LEO paid out to me in curation.

Not a bad return for a few months of pressing a button in support of content I enjoy reading about.

My LEO vote, at 100% is worth just shy of 3.5 LEO. That means I can hand out 17 LEO per day to content creators. The same amount goes into the curation pool of which I share in. Naturally, the payouts on curation will vary for each person since there are many variables that go into.

Nevertheless, it is literally printing money.

Each time I hit the button, I know there will be, with great likelihood, some money entering my account a week later. As my stake in a particular tribe grows, the entire process repeats itself, just at a higher level.

The same holds true for Steem. Anyone holding a significant amount of SP can do the same thing. This could be one of the reasons for the increase in SP held by Dolphins and Orcas over the past 6 weeks. It appears both categories did a fair amount of buying with the price so low. This could be attributed to just taking advantage of the opportunity or it might be accounts foresaw what was coming and decided to increase their curation power.

Either way, whether focusing upon STEEM or the layer two tokens, we can see an avenue to getting paid. This is available to everyone who concentrates on growing their accounts. It is not an overnight process unless one has a boatload of money to buy a particular token. Outside of that, I found it best to take the long term view of things.

At present I am applying this approach to 3 different tribes. I am considering adding a couple more for a total of 6. Time becomes an issue but I feel the payoff, for both myself and the ecosystem, is worth it. Ultimately, there will be a day down the road when those with a few thousand of a particular SE token are considered the big fish.

What is exciting is much of this process will be repeated once SMTs are released. Just like Steem-Engine offered people to opportunity to get in early on particular projects, we will see this duplicated with, in all likelihood, existing websites. Having a knowledge of how the Steem ecosystem works is a definite advantage when some better known sites start to show up.

Right now, we are simply duplicating what Facebook and Google knew for years. It is also something they took advantage of. Each time a button is pushed on their platforms, that is money. Those entities know there is value in that. Every upvote tells a story, one they capture and sell.

We simply are copying that model with one major difference. Instead of a mega-tech company taking the proceeds, it can now go into the wallets of individuals. This is a radical concept, one the world is completely unaware of. Over time, it is a model that should be easy to sell since people are already doing it sans the benefit.

Can someone actually build some wealth by pressing a button? The answer is yes.

It will take effort to accumulate a stake if there is none to start. However, when looking at growth in terms of a return, I can attest to the fact the payouts are much greater than in the traditional system. I found, early on, it is possible to grow one's stake by 1% per day. Of course, if the account has 1 token in it, getting .01 payout is not too exciting. However, when we consider the idea that interest rates in many countries are negative, this is mind-blowing.

Simply pressing a button can earn one in two days what the Federal Reserve pays on its bonds in a year. This is accomplished by pressing a button a few times a day.

Over time, as an account grows, the numbers, in terms of percentages, decrease. What was received on a daily basis becomes weekly, and then, monthly. Of course, the raw numbers tend to grow along with the account.

All this for clicking on one's mouse.

Getting paid for pressing a button...it isn't a bad deal.

We are witnessing the accumulation of generational wealth right in front of our eyes.

I would agree with that. It is amazing to witness the transformation that is taking place. We are going to see an explosion once this idea catches on. I really believe SMTs will aid in that greatly since it will, potentially, expose this concept to some pretty big sites.

Inter-generational wealth even.
