How to "fix" Steemmonsters - I have THE solution.

in #steemmonsters6 years ago (edited)

Steemmonsters is broken!

  • $2 beta packs are not close to being worth $2.
  • Special focus is given to the Mavericks
  • The "little players" are only tossed bones.
  • Card prices are down (market cap is) down.

I am not complaining!

I've more than doubled my investment of a few hundred dollars.
I'm currently in the process of selling all my Steemmonster cards and powering down.

  • Not because I don't see a bright future for both Steemmonsters and Steem.
    • It's nearly spring here, and I have a TON of work to do in the real world.
      • I'm cashing in and freeing up my time...

The answer is simple.
This one simple change
fixes EVERYTHING

Focus 90% on the "little" players.

  • By little players, I mean the people who have <$100 invested in Steemmonsters.
    • In case you didn't know it, it takes a few thousand dollars to play with a maxed out deck.
There are quite a few people who have spent this amount of money. Most invested when Steemmonsters was just getting started. They are sitting on literally thousands of cards and complaining they aren't getting a good enough return on their investment.
      • Management of Steemmonsters is focusing on these big players.
        @aggroed and @yabapmatt I hope you are listening. :D
Stop trying to appease these big players by tossing them big rewards for season play and tournaments. Don't let their bickering and complaining set your (Steemmonster's) sail. Most of them are not business gurus. They only think they know what they want.

Here's how to really make them happy.

  • Increase the value of their cards.
    It's really that simple!
    • The quickest way to do this is focus on the "little" players.
      • It's all a numbers game.
Focus on the "little" players and they will get other "little" players,
rather than get frustrated and quit playing.
    • Get enough "little" players and give them a reason to build their deck just a little better and they will purchase cards and beta packs.
      • As it is now, they look at a maxed out Hydra which costs $129 and think, nope, I'm never going to spend $129 on a card. But I really could and should upgrade from level 1 to level 2 summoners, so I can beat those stupid bots. In fact, we didn't have pizza this week, so I think I'll throw another $20 at this game...

Who is going to spend more money on cards?

  • 1000 new players spending another $20 leveling up their cards?
  • 1 investor with maxed cards?

Who is going to grow the market for cards?

  • 1000 new players spending another $20 leveling up their cards?
  • 1 investor with maxed cards?

Who is going to increase the value of existing cards?

  • 1000 new players spending another $20 leveling up their cards?
  • 1 investor with maxed cards?

What's going to make the "investors" the happiest?

  • Throwing more rewards at them?
  • Increasing the value of their investment?

How do you really make your investors the happiest?

  • Focus 90% on the "little" players.

Just some bright ideas

  • Don't just have prizes for the top players.
    • Have prizes for the top players of EVERY league.
  • Have tournaments where only players from a certain league can play.
    • There is no reason to have a bronze or novice tournament which allows top players to compete.
  • How about tournaments allowing only new players of the past month?
  • How about some more lotteries at every level for people completing their daily quest?
    • It doesn't have to be a gfl. Maybe just a level 2 summoner.

My world view

It's not just Steemmonsters.

  • It's the same problem with SteemInc.
    • It's the same problem with any government.
      • It's the same problem with the central banks.
  • Too much focus is given to the wealthiest.
    • Those who have already invested.
      • Things always tend to be too top heavy.
  • Do you want a better economy in the United States.
    • Trump has proven once again, that if you give tax breaks to the "little people," the economy flourishes and you end up with more tax revenue than ever before.
      • Reagan's trickle down theory didn't prove out.
It never trickled down, because the rich are greedy.
They never realized they would earn more by letting things trickle down.

Well, I've planted the seed.

  • I'll check back next fall when my real world slows down to see if it ever took root.

and I still have a couple hundred dollars worth of cards for sale...

Hey, @wizardave. This sounds like goodbye until the fall, based on what I just read. If it is, I wish you well with your work in the outside world, and hope that things do settle down around here for a change. I'm not sure if I have much of hope of change for STEEM Monsters, given what I've been hearing so far, but I don't want anyone to lose money if it's at all possible, so I'll hope against hope in this case that something happens for the better.
