19 UPDATES/FEATURES ... ONE WEEK!!

in #steempeak6 years ago

One of the best aspects of SteemPeak.com is the fast development and interaction with the community of users. Before we implemented any of the big new features we wanted to polish up the ones we had and respond to a lot of user requests including some easy features we had never even thought of.

The user profile page with the new header and the grid mode :)

We'd love to thank users who comment here and specially our growing community on Discord which help us by reporting issues and comes up with great new ideas and thankfully many of them aren't too huge. Speaking of big new features there are still some in the queue from our original Roadmap. With the influx of new users this was just a great time to polish up what we had and include some of these smaller features.

FIRST SET OF UPDATES

These were implemented back on Monday

FEATURES

  • Voting in the grid view
  • Hide posts/comments with low rating
  • More wallet options (power up, transfer to savings)
  • Undo/redo button in the markdown editor

UPDATES

  • Remember last grid/list mode selection in the feed
  • Confirmation dialog when discarding a draft/template/scheduled post
  • Revert a scheduled post to a draft to edit and schedule again
  • Fixed account growth chart in the dashboard to include power up/power down activities
  • Mobile layout Improvements (feed, vote panel, popup size)
  • Improved how draft autosave works

SECOND SET OF UPDATES

These were implemented today / Thursday

FEATURES

  • Grid view is available also in user's blog
  • Re-steem filter available also in user's blog
  • It's now possible to delete posts/comments (only if there are no votes or replies yet)
  • New look on account profile page (improved layout and more details like vote value and voting power easily accessible)
  • A new (optional) photography portfolio view (thanks to @revo for this idea and it's plugin that was used as inspiration for the new page).
This view must b explicitly enabled in your setting and require an update in your steem account profile (performed on steemconnect) . On the profile page of users with this setting enabled there will be a new 'Portfolio' page. You can check how it look on @JARVIE profile: https://steempeak.com/@jarvie/portfolio

UPDATES

  • Better link rewriting to avoid jumping on steemit.com when clicking a link in a post
  • Layout improvements and some fixes in post display
  • Improved logo resolution on retina / high definition display
  • Lot of fixes and improvements (most of them reported on Discord)

yes good call thanks to the whole Steampeak team. @dmytrokorol and @jarvie too!

I started using SteemPeak.com within the last 24hrs. Prior to that I've only been using SteemIt.com for just over 1 month now. Before that I was using Minds.com, which is another such crypto-powered social network, similar to the Steem ecosystem, but based on the Ethereum blockchain. Today I posted the quote below from your blog post here, onto my Minds.com user profile and pinned it...

🙚 "One of the best aspects of SteemPeak.com is the fast development and interaction with the community of users. Before we implemented any of the big new features we wanted to polish up the ones we had and respond to a lot of user requests including some easy features we had never even thought of." 🙘

To understand why this one quote is such an amazing thing to me, you'd need to understand a little of what has been happening at Minds.com lately, and what brought me over to the Steem ecosystem in the first place. For a long time now, Minds.com has stagnated, with very little front-end development happening. Most of the effort there lately has been in working towards migrating Minds off the Rinkeby TestNet and onto the main Ethereum blockchain. What this means is that some user issues have not been dealt with for a while now, with many dating back years! A few of the more experienced Minds users (even moreso than myself) have been voicing their concerns about this lately, and the whole situation has ended in an impasse, with a tentative truce drawn up between the user community and the developers, along with a (non-binding) promise that there will be a lot of effort focussed on outstanding user issues once the migration is completed.

This stalemate led to my looking further afield, and finding the Steem ecosystem, which I actually found via someone's post on Minds, ironically. I bore witness to the truth of the cited "fast development and interaction with the community of users" of SteemPeak.com first-hand as, being only a very new user of SteemPeak myself (a merely hours old new user), I raised an issue on the Discord channel, and it is now included as a fix in this update here! That is impressive work!

You guys are amazing. This is really going to make a difference when bringing new people to the platform.

Special thanks all of you! :) all updates are so great and wow! Portfolio look incredible :) heheheh really appreciated for the time on it! Thanks @revo too!

This comment definitely deserves an upvote! :D

am i able to comment. yes :D

I've noticed on occasions that the "schedule" button and/or the publish button do not work. I know if you are missing something or another, a title, something in the body, or tags (or of the wrong format), the schedule or publish buttons might not work. But everything seems to be in order, yet neither work. Any ideas?

We have to update the Publish page to give user the error message so they know what must be changed. This is planned but we have not found the time to work on this yet.

For you problem usually this is for an additional SPACE at the end of the tags, let me know ;)

Good to know. Another scheduling tool accepted it fine. I'll keep this in mind the next time there's a problem. (Hopefully never).
