Let Us Take a Look at the Only International Airport in Metro Manila
Yesterday I went to Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) to fetch my relatives coming from Italy and so I decided to show you the current state of the only International Airport in the metropolitan area.
NAIA or formerly known as Manila International Airport (MIA) is the only airport in the metropolitan region of the Philippines it is only 7 kilometers away from Manila. The next nearest airport is located in Pampanga which is called the Clark International Airport that is 96 kilometers away from Manila which is very far.
The picture above is the Terminal 1 of NAIA which is only catering International Flights. NAIA Terminal 1 is the oldest terminal among the 4 terminals of NAIA.
Parking Area
The parking area here is bad as it has limited space and cannot accomodate all cars who intends to fetch someone. The worst part is it is not free you have to pay 45 php (.84$). Services like this one needs to be free as you just intend to fetch someone which is not that long.
If the flight you are waiting to arrive is at 11:00 you have to be there at least 2 hours early just to wait for your chance to have a parking space. Not to mention that 24/7 there parking spot js always full.
Waiting Area
Believe it or not the waiting area before was not free. You are supposed to pay 35 pesos (.66$) just to get in this area. The good thing is now it is free and I think we Filipinos need to be grateful about that.
The Waiting Area is spacious or I just catch it in a good time. The waiting area has 2 floors where the ground floor is an open area with benches and the 2nd floor is airconditiones and has 2 restaurants.
You can see the latest updates on some screen monitors provided regarding on the flight you are waiting. They also have a radio announcement regarding which flight has arrived or has been delayed.
this is the ground floor of the waiting area
Pick-up Location
This is their pick-up location if you don't want to pay a parking fee and you are on the go picking them up in this location is the most adequate. The catch is you can only be there for 2 minutes after that time you need to go as security guards there are strict when it comes to time.
Also you can see in the picture that all passengers has a particular area on where they can stay which is classified by the first letter of their surname.

That is all for this post I hope you have a good idea on what our International airport looks like in the Philippines, I know it is not that much but it is still functional.
all shots were taken from my Galaxy S9+
Its ranked among the worst airports in the world.. Am soo glad Cebu has upgraded.. As in super upgrade.
I honestly envy the newly opened airport in Mactan Cebu, I hope we see that kind of development in Metro Manila soon, I heard that the air port by San Miguel is in talks right now.
