Steemph Davao First Meet up

April 7, we had our first ever meet up. We invited most of the steemians in Davao and also invited non-steemians to join us as we discussed about what steemit is and all about the platform.

Me and my dad @gems.and.cookies scouted for the venue.

With the group head @dandalion and @steemitph's permission, we booked and had our discussion held here.

Before starting 📝

First step was to set everything up, the projector and also wait for the members and guests to come in. We were expecting round 30 people to attend.

We also discussed the flow of the discussion

and when me and my guest speaker Pamela Janson could speak a little about our advocacy on PLASTIC POLLUTION

Here we have steemit discussions by @steemitph

Non steemians were able to listen and understand what steemit is all about.

I also did a live video so other steemians from other parts of the country and non steemians can watch.

They gave sample of markdowns, how steemit web page looks like and writing blogs.
Also talking about tags and steemit groups and curators. Sndbox, utopian io, philippines tag, bayanihan group, steemgigs
Witnesses! Who they are and what they do for the platform and why we need to vote for them.
Of course it would be very hard to discuss it in detail but the information was more than enough especially for those who have no idea about steemit.

After them, we had another talk about environmental issues especially plastic pollution and the 5 R's we ought to practice.

Plastic pollution ⚠️

The speaker is ms. Pamela Janson, she is a BioSci graduate and joined ms. Earth Philippines and was able to meet significant people who want to help the envirnoment.

The topic is about considering the 5 R's

1. Rethink
2. Reduce
3. Reuse
4. Recycle
5. Respect

We have a responsibility
We need to act now
We need to undo the damage
Most beached animals die of plastic ingestion, sea turtles mistake them for Jellyfish and starve to death or block their intestines. They grow sick and perish.

No, this is not the way to be.
Time to ask yourself if you can do without a few things,
✅Turning off the lights when not in use
✅Appreciating silence and the rustling leaves over loud music on the radio
✅ Don't let the water run when you're not using it
✅Challenge yourself to use a little less electricity/fossil fuels
✅If you can walk, walk, commute rather than getting a car and driving smoke belching machines
✅Use less plastic, knowing some of it will go to the ocean start counting turtles and fish whenever you stop yourself from using new plastics, or throw plastic bags/things in the trash bin.

I gave out prizes for people who could answer our questions

• ecological awareness
• protect wildlife
• conserve resources

It will be just a little something to win and enjoy

The end

It was really nice to meet everyone and we plan to blog better and help more people with our group activities.
