SteemShort #2 - Post 1: Request for First Part of the Story

UPDATE: The author for the first part of SteemShort #2 has been chosen (2017-Dec-27)

The summary with the most upvotes (57) has been written by @sistem.

Congratulations, @sistem

Here is the summary:

It was a rainy day and Mrs Kenny couldn’t get enough of the nagging, “are you listening to what I am saying?”, she asked Mr Kenny, but he greeted her with silence as he was trying to concentrate on the road to avoid mishap. Mrs Kenny wasn’t having any of that as she stretched towards the steering but was met with a resounding slap from Mr Kenny.

Earlier that day, Mr and Mrs Kenny had woken up in a very high spirit as it was the 25th of December and were both happy for having seen yet another Christmas. They both hurriedly said their morning prayers and Mrs Kenny ran to the other room to wake Cindy who happened to be the only daughter born to Mr and Mrs Kenny. They had their bath, ate and prepared for church and at exactly 8:00 CAT they made to leave for church when Mr Kenny received a text message on his Phone but unfortunately the phone was with Mrs Kenny.

“You slapped me”, She said and in a bid to retaliate, the car skid off the road and ran into a ditch by the road side.

SteemShort is a project in which short stories are written collaboratively by three different authors and illustrated by an artist/photographer.
The process to create a SteemShort is described in this post.

The first SteemShort, Hollow Tussle has been already written and illustrated.

Authors who won each phase of the Steemshorts #1 contest were rewarded:

  • @tolustx - won 52 SBD for the first part
  • @nevies - won 48 SBD for the second part
  • @dorth - won 60 SBD for the third part
  • @katharsisdrill is still waiting for the reward for his awesome illustration - due on Friday.

This is the request for the first part of the second SteemShort.

Authors that want to write this first part should send in a comment the summary of their proposed contribution. This summary must be in 100 to 200 words. Any proposed summary that is shorter than 100 words or longer than 200 words will not be considered.

The chosen author will be the one that has the most upvotes for his summary comment 4 days after this post. The post will be updated to indicate which author has been chosen.
The chosen author will then be instructed how to submit their full contribution. The full contribution needs to be between 500 and 1,500 words.
Once the full contribution of the chosen author will be received, another post with this full contribution will request proposals for the second part of the story.

All authors need to agree for a "Creative Commons Attribution-Share Alike" (https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/4.0/legalcode).

No title for the short story should be suggested. When the full text of the full story will be known, the three different authors will propose a title.

So, writers, send your summary proposals.

And, readers, upvote the summaries that you like.

It was a robbery case on the eve of 11th January, 2016 along Abuja Lokoja road by a notorious robbery gang which led to the lost of many lives. It was that same day that Paul was on transit to Abuja from Lokoja after a bussiness meeting. Feeling pressed, Paul decided to ease himself in the bush by the roadside, ignorant of the robbery incident going on. There was a alert by some individuals and the police arrived the scene in pursuit of the robbers. There were exchange of gunshorts by the police and robbers. Unfortunately for Paul, he was seen in the bush and was arrested by the police as one of the robbers. He tried explaining to the police but his explanations feel on deaf hears. He puts a call to his mum and brother who is a priest informing them of his arrest.

Well done sir

In a dystopian future, a man enters his prison cell for the first time. It sits miles beneath the earth, in the worlds most high security prison. The place is known for its lawlessness. The guards let the inmates run wild because they don't feel much like dealing with them. He knows he'll need to play his cards very carefully, his body wasn't built for this place so he'll need to survive on wit.

He is capable of seeing goodness deep inside the hearts of all men, even those who take the shape of monsters surrounding him, but bringing decency to the surface in here is out of the question. He must treat them like beasts to be tamed, learn to play them like puppets, otherwise he will be torn to shreds. He is terrified, but he lets the fear pass through him and calms his mind...

This one is a Thriller in the making right here. if you dont get picked i might have pay you to keep the story going!!

Woah! That’s extrmely encouraging! I mean to keep it going either way. The character is actually part of a very large epic story I’m conceptualizing right now. I want to move my focus over to that project after all the short stories I’m working on have been released. I’d like to win this so I can try a collaborative alternate version and see where people take it. :-)

Any time bro Keep me posted I can be reached on telegram @masterroshi991 id love to see you build on this work. and when your ready ill be happy to help with marketing and and any other things I can help ya with. I even have some buddies that will make some visuals for ya.

Thans so much! If you are interested you can check out Confessions of the Damaged, which is a collection of short stories exploring the lines the borders between different realities and the invisible strings that tie us together.

I’ll go check out your profile now ;-)

My SteemShorts summary submission:

Daniel McBride, a 17 year old with a small build, stands shirtless in front of a mirror and puts a ski mask over his face. He begins practicing what he will say for when he robs a convenient store later. "Put your..hands up! Or I'll shoot I swear," he says as he points his fake gun at the mirror.

The story will follow this young man as he fumbles over his words in the mirror, and later, as he tries out the words for real. We will discover his motivations for robbing the store (which include his family's financial situation and the health of his little brother) as well as his hopes and dreams for the future, and how he has strayed so far from those goals. He is a timid young man, which proves difficult for him as he attempts to do something as bold as this crime. Before he leaves the bathroom, his little brother steps into the doorway, and sees his older brother wearing the mask and holding the gun. He looks scared.

See my profile for past short stories. Good luck everyone!!

You're welcome!

Ernest and Daisy left their cabin in South Surrey, BC at 4PM, with their self-driving long-haul truck, and drove South crossing the border in 25 minutes. At 7PM they were at AmerStuff warehouse in Seattle, where a sealed 53 foot standard container from Costco was loaded on the trailer. The container was to be delivered to the AmerStuff warehouse in San Fernando, near Los Angeles.

At 7:30PM they already were on the I-5 going south, the truck on auto-pilot. While driving in Washington State or in California, at least one driver needed to be in the cabin, but in Oregon, they both could sleep while still driving.

During the three hours that it took the truck to reach Portland, Oregon, they worked on the Truckoin blockchain, that they both created in 2018, on top of EOS. After four years, Truckoin had become the main payment platform for independent truckers as themselves.

After refueling in natural gas in Portland, they were back on the I-5
and they both went to bed.

Shortly before entering California, Ernest was awaken automatically. He sat into the cabin. Checking his messages, he discover a very worrying communication from his friend and colleague Tony.

The place is an unnamed Church Cemetery, in whose restricted precincts, stands surrounded by tombstones, a mango tree whose fruit is never gathered. On this day and hour, however, two innocent youngsters breach in to gather the ripe fruit…..

Along the periphery path, a drunkard popular for denying God’s existence, passes singing at the top of his voice...

Inside a candle lit house, a Reverend father who has passionately warned his church faithful about being ready for the coming of Jesus, incants in deep prayer…

The date is Dec. 31st 1999. The clock ticks down to the New Year. The world is braced for an impending apocalypse. The sun will darken. The moon will not give its light. The stars will fall from the sky. The powers of heaven will shake…. The world will come to an end.

Or so, biblical prophecy insinuates. The subject is discussed, in the Pulpits as in the Bars.

The choice is heaven or hell. Who is ready? Who can be sure where he or she will end up in?

As the characters each contemplate their destiny, the stroke of midnight will bring a moment of truth, for the Reverend, and for the drunkard…

Anna is a wealthy socialite who’s dating the governor’s son, Reggie. Their relationship is far from perfect though, as jealousy and suspicion drive them into a whirlpool of despair, often dragging friends and family into their problems. Most prominent of those affected are Anna’s little sister, Suzanne, and Reggie’s oldest friend, Hunter. As their inter-personal twister grows to a cyclone, a new threat grows stronger by the day.

Soon, they will be tested to, and beyond, breaking point, as a web of petty squabbles explodes into a black hole involving betrayal, kidnapping, torture, and murder. Through it all, they will discover within themselves parts they didn’t know existed, and reach conclusions about themselves they were too scared to face, possibly changing the way they will live out the rest of their lives.

However long that may be.

She found herself stranded in a strange land, she's thinking i should have never come in search of him. In a disorganized state, she drops her purse as she is hit by a kid running by. As she picks up her purse, she hears a familar voice calling out her name. She looks up and realizes she is standing in front of the one person she never wanted to see. 'What do I say to him' she whispers to herself as she stood there gazing into those big blue eyes. 'You forgot your card at the counter ' he says to her as he stretches the credit card towards her. It was in that moment she realized he did not have a clue who she was. She wondered how that where possible or 'Was he just pretending? so she would be caught unaware'
