12 days of Christmas- one coin to rule them all
As the festive season draws near, there’s no better way to celebrate than with a bit of shiny inspiration! For the next 12 days, I’ll be sharing my very own 12 Days of Christmas Countdown, featuring the precious metals I’d love to find under the tree this year. This idea was first dreamt up by a long-time #silvergoldstackers community member and good friend, @silverd510, and it pairs beautifully with our annual #SecretSanta project, where members exchange silver and gold gifts anonymously. Find both original posts here 👉 silverd510 and the #secretsanta 👈 there.....
Originally designed to showcase a growing wishlist, the concept had one rule: the gifts should increase in value as the days progress, culminating on Day 12 with your "holy grail"—the ultimate unattainable piece. It’s a brilliant way to share your wish list and perhaps even give your mystery sender a nudge in the right direction. So, grab a warm drink, and join me each day as I unveil the coins, bars, and rounds I’m dreaming Santa will deliver this Christmas!

Day 10: The 2021 2oz Silver Queen’s Beasts Completer Coin – A Collector’s Dream
For Day 10, my Christmas wish turns to a coin I regret not grabbing when I had the chance. The 2021 Queen’s Beasts Completer Coin, the grand finale to The Royal Mint’s iconic Queen’s Beasts series, is now an elusive treasure. With its stunning design and skyrocketing popularity, it’s a true gem for any collector.
The Queen’s Beasts series pays tribute to the ten heraldic creatures that stood guard at Queen Elizabeth II’s coronation in 1953. Over several years, The Royal Mint released coins featuring each of these beasts individually, capturing the essence of British heraldry and royal history. The Completer Coin, released in 2021, brings all ten beasts together in a single breathtaking design.
At its heart is the majestic depiction of Queen Elizabeth II, surrounded by the beasts:
- The Lion of England
- The Red Dragon of Wales
- The Griffin of Edward III
- The Unicorn of Scotland
- The Black Bull of Clarence
- The Falcon of the Plantagenets
- The Yale of Beaufort
- The White Lion of Mortimer
- The White Horse of Hanover
- The White Greyhound of Richmond
Crafted from 2 ounces of 999.9 fine silver, this coin is not just a piece of art but a hefty addition to any stack. Its £5 face value also makes it exempt from Capital Gains Tax in the UK, adding to its appeal for investors.
The Completer Coin’s popularity soared upon its release, and prices have since climbed, making it a sought-after item in the precious metals community. For me, owning this coin would symbolise not just the completion of a legendary series but also a piece of numismatic history celebrating the late Queen’s reign.
If Santa’s sleigh is passing The Royal Mint this year, I hope it picks up this 2oz masterpiece!
