Lisk-Wars: Rise of the Deathbringers - Synopsis/Introductory Backstory, [SteemSourcing]
Introduction
I recently posted an idea for a new way of utilizing Steem to do what I call SteemSourcing. This post is the first post in a project that I am looking to use as an experiment in SteemSourcing. I will be posting several additional pieces of this project, including an introductory post outlining my ideas for the project as a whole, including potential areas where I think it could be developed into a solid intellectual property. I'm posting several of the components before the introductory post so that I can link back to them when I outline my ambitions for the project.
Note: These materials are being posted as open-rights, open use, open everything, to be used in whatever creative manner you can think of to develop it into something fun. Think of it as a steemsourced world, full of fan fiction, fan art, etc, except the fan fiction and fan art IS the world. Once I have the initial introductory post complete, please feel free to link back to it in your related creations or tag me, to help me get credit for the idea. If you use any materials from anyone else in the community, i.e. artists or authors, in your production, please give credit where credit is due. Supporting one another is how we can keep this train going! Thanks for stopping by and taking the time to read and be a part of this great community!
Backstory / Synopsis
There are many worlds among the stars. Among these worlds there are many nations. Some of these nations are built on hope, honesty, and a respect for life. Others present a dark and harrowing story of war, famine, and death. This story, is the story of one such nation.
They lived in an era of peace. For thousands of years, The Lord Protector and his delegation had ruled with justice and honor. The people of Lumaria had witnessed an age of prosperity and growth like none they had ever seen before. That is, until they discovered the Obelisk. Buried deep in the caverns of Grayle Mountain, the strange rock seemed to be from another world. It beaconed light in an array of colors as bright as the light of the three suns. No one knew of it’s origin, nor of the immense power that it contained.
As a show of support to the delegation, Lord Protector Kordek had the Obelisk broken into 101 equal shards which he hung around the necks of each prime delegate. They were to be used as symbols of their status and anyone holding a shard was known to be royalty. The shards were admired by all and brought great pride and fame to their bearers.
For a time…
The shards of the Obelisk held a deep and dark secret. As time passed, the shards began to imbue their holder with mysterious abilities. The people came to refer to these abilities as “Shard Magic” and the bearers as “Shardmages”.
In the beginning, shard magic was used for noble purposes. Some Shardmages were able to heal the sick. Others could control the rain and the seas and they used their powers to improve the lives of the people of Lumaria. These were the early days.
As the years passed, some of the shard bearers began to change. The power of the Obelisk had begun to darken their souls and new forms of magic were discovered. Dark, dangerous forms. These Shardmages developed the ability to raise the dead, gain influence over the mind, and the darkest among their ranks learned to use their powers to rain chaos and destruction on the world around them. These shards came to be known as “The Shards of Darkness” and their bearers as “Deathbringers”. Now, the Deathbringers have formed a secret alliance, hellbent on the destruction of the Lord Protector and the Shardmages who stand by his side.
Thus begins a new era. The era of war.
nice one!
Thanks for the comment! I posted an outline for a game design idea I had revolving around this property as well that outlines some character and world design ideas (i.e. locations) that I had also built up in my head as part of the world.
