UFC Fight Night Mexico
Sam Alvey vs Alex Nicholson
Sam Alvey
'Smiling' Sam Alvey is the lovable and smiling martial artist known for his big left hand and weird, almost sickening smile. Alvey is a one trick pony, but that pony know how to kick! He has become a finisher by trade, but steps up in this competition have exposed him to be a very low volume and a static fighter who freezes up. He has immense power in his sweeping left hand, and if it lands a couple of times on any fighter's head, they will go out. He showed a nice front choke and defensive wrestling game in his last win against Eric Spicely, he also showed the ability to neutralize grapplers like Dan Kelly and Dylan Andrews with nasty elbows and short shots on the inside. Smiling Sam is one of the best at generating power in short distances as well as catching the guy right on the temple. When Alvey catches you, it's good night Irene. He will need to start fast in his upcoming bout, as well as pace himself wisely; in the fight against Tom Watson and Elvis Mutapcic, he did not turn his second gear up until the end of the fight, and he fell to the judge's decision both nights... Sam depends a lot on his opponents sinking into a rhythm; he performs like a God against fighters who are good at one sole aspect of the sport. When guys mix it up on the smiling man, he can freeze up. His style is a fan friendly slugger, but when an opponent mixes it up on Sam...he can fall into his own traps. He will need to focus his ability to mix it up on the feet, and keep his opponent aware of that nuke of a left at all times.
Alex "The Spartan" Nicholson
Alex Nicholson is somewhat new to the UFC as this is only his third fight in the Octagon. He displays the assets of a madman, taking on anyone at anytime and igniting true brawls in each one of his fights. Also, he took a fight against Misha Cirukov on a week's notice, one of the most dangerous men at a weight class above his own. He ended up having his jaw snapped that night, but Cirkunov was forced to take him down for the finish as Nicholson was too much for even that beast on the feet. Alex was almost set up to fail again when put against rising star Devin Clark in Clark's own backyard...he was a 4-1 underdog. Alex showed a weakness to getting taken down, but he was able to actively seek back-doors and find his way back to striking range. Clark had trouble holding down Nicholson, and the hellacious body kicks and straight punches from Alex sent Clark to the floor....he had succumb to blows as the first round bell rung. Nicholson is a terminator of a middleweight, he has finishes over men who now fight at heavyweight, and he has never won a fight on the cards. 7 wins, 7 finishes with 2 losses, one loss being to Cirkunov. Records do not mean much in MMA, but this is a man young to the sport who has shown much promise. Nicholson represents a new breed of fighter that represents the unorthodox nature of mixed martial arts, guys who throw themselves into chaos because they are unafraid. Nicholson will have to use that incredible chin and power to keep the smiling one at bay, whether he can do is a different question entirely.
The Matchup
Both men pack immense power, and both men are unafraid to throw and eat shots all fight. Alvey will be looking to set Nicholson up with the massive left hand, although, that may be hard to line up on the 6"4 Nicholson who has a 5 inch reach advantage. Alvey moves at a molasses pace whereas Nicholson constantly feints and never allows you to see his strikes. He disguises body kicks by leaping in and out, he is long enough to expose fighter's at any angle. Both men will seek the finish, and this may come down to a factor of durability. Alvey has shown a deteriorating chin, as well as the inability to adapt to new styles. His left hand will always be there, but his ability to land it effectively will never be. Nicholson is very strong and agile, he is impossible to keep in the clinch or on the ground. Alvey may turn to his clinch striking which is a very powerful tool in his arsenal, the thing is Alex can take a punch...or a thousand punches. This is going to be a barn burner! May the best man win!

How to Play
Vote on the main post to enter the bet (main post rewards will also be added to the Stake Pool).
Cast your Vote Bet on ONLY ONE outcome for which you bet on for the win (Multiple comment votes will be automatically disqualified by the script, unvote and revote counts as multiple votes and will be disqualified).
After 24 hours, the post and related game comments payout to the pool; remember 25% voters rewards are deducted from the total post payout value first as per Steem curation rules. Voters are rewarded in standard fashion in proportion to their Steem Power holdings.
The Stake Pool:
The remaining 75% of the total payout is paid out in 50% Steem Power and 50% in liquid currencies, the latter now varies in payout ratio after the new fork. To make the process less complicated, we have decided to use all paid out SBD to buy Steem in the internal market to create a grand total Steem Stake Pool.
30% of the Stake Pool will be retained, of which 15% will go to the writer/sports presenter of the post, and the 15% balance towards editing, development and advertising.
70% of the Stake Pool will be held until the event/game outcome is determined.
Once the winning outcome is determined, we will execute a proprietary developed script that will divide and pay out the Steem rewards equally, using the Power Up method, to Mass Distribute SP to all participants that voted on the main post as the entrance fee as well as voted on the correct comment representing the winning outcome.
Only participants with a Reputation of 35 or more will qualify to earn SP rewards, but non-qualifiers can still vote and comment in support of the redistribution initiative.
Entry cut-off time is the earlier of the post payout or the start of the event.

@steemsports is not a traditional betting platform and no fiat currency is used as rewards or in casting bets; as such does not fall under any gaming and gambling jurisdictions; but even so, users are urged to first consult with the laws and age restrictions of their countries.
@steemsports in the unlikely event that when the Stake Pool is divided up between the winners and the nomenclature resolution goes below the third decimal place (example: 0.0001), then Steem decimal restrictions won’t allow a payout and the pool will carry over to the next game.
Please vote responsibly :).

Hello @elumni! Welcome to Steemit first off. Basically we upvote the post like you would for any other post. In order to enter a "bet", we upvote the picture of the fighter or team we think will win. That is it. We simply swipe the image of our pic to the left and the upvote and reply buttons appear. One goal for you is to increase your reputation score. In order to receive the winnings for your pick, your reputation score needs to be 35 or greater. Hope that helps.
Hello @lydon.sipe, How do you increase reputation power? Also, how do I benef if I increase me Steemit power?
@bryan-inhoff just answered my question.
I would recommend joining http://steemit.chat and contact thecryptodrive (that's my chat name), I can put you in touch with Steem Prentice who can help you with Steem. Regarding SteemSports, you need a reputation of 35 to be able to win, just vote main post and vote the comment you think will win, and then wait around 3 days for payout. Good luck on Steem.
And your reputation will increase by receiving upvotes on posts & comments you make, so I've upvoted your comment. Every little bit helps! Welcome to Steemit.
