PSG Lose Into Semis

It was a tensed night in Paris on Tuesday during the second leg of the Champions League quarterfinals as PSG, although lost on the night, progressed to the semifinals.

It was always going to be that one of the finalists from last season's final would be going home in the last eight when the draws were made.

Last season's Champions, Bayern Munich will rue a host of missed opportunities in the first leg at home as they crashed out of the tournament on away goals.

Having lost the first leg 2-3, it was going to be a herculean task for them to overturn such a result but with the quality in the team, it was always a possibility.

The continued absence of Robert Lewandowski and Serge Gnabry who both missed the first leg proved vital again as they bowed out of the last eight.

A headed goal by Choupo Moting in the 40th minute of the game was supposed to be the turning point of the comeback but PSG were not looking to back down and they also missed a couple of chances.

The French Champions saw a Kylian Mbappe goal rightly ruled out for offside, Neymar hit the crossbar and the brilliance of Manuel Neuer also ensured that the French giants didn't get an away goal.

Choupo Moting's goal proved to be the only goal on the night, but it was not enough to see them through as they needed to score at least two unreplied goals.

PSG who are now strong favorites, after eliminating Barcelona and current holders, Bayern Munich will now face the winner between Real Madrid and Liverpool in the semi finals.
