The Detroit Tigers and the New York Yankees will wrap up their weekend series today when the two American League teams face off. First Pitch is scheduled for 12:05pm and the game can be seen on National Television on Fox Sports Detroit and the YES Network. It will take place at Yankee Stadium in the Bronx, New York. The Yankees are heavy favorites at -245 and the over/under is 8.5. The weather forecast calls for a mostly cloudy day but there is no rain in the forecast.
The Yankees picked up another weapon this week when they added Andrew McCutchen. The talented right fielder has spent most of his successful career with the Pittsburgh Pirates but was most recently in San Francisco with the Giants. This move to a World Series contending team will definitely give McCutchen new life and it was a very good idea for the Yankees.
Today Lance Lynn will head to the mound for New York to try and finish off the Tigers. It has been an up and down year for Lynn and he is 8-9 so far with an ERA of 4.84. He should be very comfortable today against a familiar Tigers offense that lacks any real power.
It has been a very forgettable season for the Detroit Tigers. They have been out of the playoff race for months and are in a full rebuild mode. They have little talent on the roster and a lot of work to do in the off season.
They will send Matthew Boyd to the bump today. Boyd will be facing a hot and dangerous Yankees line up. Boyd is just 8-12 with a 4.22 ERA.
With 25 games left of the Tigers season, the best they can do is play the role of spoiler.
