My Son's Ice Hockey Journey? Would You Love To See Your Kids Playing Ice Hockey?

in #steemsports7 years ago

As a mom, from Asia where the temperature at 80-100 degree all the time.

Cold temperature in the ice rink is not my favorite place to visit or sit down at all.

Happy mom like me who live in Tennessee, where is warm and breeze most of the time.

My son who loves ice hockey. He started to skate when he was 4 years old....up and down on the ice.

Thereafter, he loved the games.

When he was a 2nd grader. His teacher asked him to write a book about what's he wanted to be when he grows up.

This is his 1st book:

His book was about hockey, rules, points, blue line, red line, penalties ..... he gave it to me as a Mother’s Day gift.

I was impressed with all his amazing and creative drawings of pictures that he drew and painted with crayons.

He has been playing for AA, AAA teams since started his hockey dream. He told us that his dream is the 1st NHL draft pick, Thai-Tennessean. He didn't tell us what's team will pick him... we know that his team is going to happy and proud to have him.

Last year, he came and asked me about this book when he came back to hometown for Thanksgiving holiday. I asked him why he wanted to get this hockey back. He said that he wanted to have it with him all the time. My feeling was so thrill that he was thinking about how he came so far! I'm very happy for him and his new adventure for playing with the higher rank team in the AAA league.

Last year, he was invited to play for Northern Cyclone, it was first time he was away from home and stayed with a billet familly.

It was his first time all alone for online high school! It was tough for him to away from home and be by himself for his study without teacher & classmates.

Yes, he was away from home and missed his family & classmates in TN. He made Tennessean proud with his good hockey player and good teammate for this team. He was named the player of the month before his 2016-2017 hockey season end. I'm very proud of him.

He made it beautifully. He finished his 10th grade and had good experience played with Northern hockey style …. Yes, he’s a southern boy…howdy from Tennessee.

He has not told us that he was selected and named as an Assistant Captain. Son, but I can see "A" on your jersey.... the truth came out... I'm very proud of you who he became so far.

This season, 2017-2018 he is joining U16 AAA Pittsburgh Vengeance team, more good news to come…

His journey was rough, but he was tough enough to get through it. Some tournaments, we cannot fly because we have not much budget to fly, but we drove.

In 2014, we drove from TN to Niagara fall, NY, it's 16 hours driving. It's fun and we had a good time and good memories.

In 2015, we were stuck in Arizona due to snow in TN, we couldn't get the flight back to Nashville. We had bbq at the pool in AZ while Nashville had bad snow (airport shutdown, school closed, government office shutdown).

However, we have never missed games or tournaments that our commitments to the hockey team... most

Hope my son's hockey journey inspires you or your kids to play ice hockey.

For now, Hockey mom!
