"The Write Answers" with RhondaK: Overcoming OBS Gremlins

in #steemstarnetwork7 years ago

Well. . .we did it! The Writers' Block went live with our premier broadcast, and despite a nightmarish technical meltdown during the first quarter of an hour, we ended up with a heck of a good show. Listening to this recording, it's hard for me to even remember how bad the problems were at the beginning. I am so pleased with how this turned out. @shadowspub is an invaluable co-host, a real pro at working the audience and monitoring the chat, thus making our listeners a very real part of the show. And @gmuxx . . . what a guest! The conversation simply did not lag. We never ran out of interesting things to talk about.

I'd love for everyone to take a listen. But if you're part of The Writers' Block, or thinking about joining The Writers' Block, you really shouldn't miss this. It's a long recording. Put it on, let it play in the background while you go about your business. I'll share some highlights that hopefully will pique your interest!

  1. The first 15 minutes of our broadcast are not on this recording. Epic fail. The mother of all technical gremlins. All edited away, because nobody wants to hear that. LOL

  2. The show opens with a nice chat with Muxxy about crying over trolls and headhopping. Nope, I’m not gonna explain. You have to listen to the recording if you want to know.

  3. We also talked about pet peeves and appropriate dispatch for rabid dogs (and cats.) Yep, it’s a metaphor for something, but not gonna tell you what that is. “Bloodless Terrorism” got a mention, too. Curious? Click that play button!

  4. Anne Lamott got a nod when the subject matter shifted to shitty first drafts, and then to word vomit. We went over the risks of publishing work on the blockchain that an author might want to publish later in the mainstream. Yep, we also talked about Steemhouse Publishing and what our team of editors and beta readers bring to the table.

  5. Following this was the “Gmuxx in Bed” segment. Newp. Not gonna explain that one, either. You just gotta click.

  6. We wheedled some good information out of GMuxx about his family and his hobbies, like 3D modeling. Here's a tip: most of this recording has the same image on the screen, but when you get to 1:13:40 mark and this topic comes up for discussion, you might want to have a look at the screen. I included the photos that GMuxx shared with us during the show. His work is too amazing to miss.

  7. Another “Can’t Miss!” feature of this show is the TARC Choir at full howl. Because of earlier technical issues, my push to talk wasn’t working and I couldn’t do a thing about the interruption. So we just let it happen. Only on live radio with me, folks. You heard and saw it all right here on the Steemstar Network.

  8. With the song of thirty rescue dogs still hanging in the air, I put out a call for songwriters to participate in the show, because they are writers just as much as novelists are. We're going to feature original music on the show every week as soon as I get the OBS gremlins euthanized.

  9. Lastly, I announced the challenge put forth by Team Sircork that involves the three of us—Sircork, Beanz, and myself—shaving our heads if our supporters can vote us into the Top 20. Will it happen? Nothing would surprise me these days. I’ll keep the clippers handy just in case.

Great first show, excellent audience crowd and good job all around. Welcome to the SteemStar Network family. <3

Wonderful first show, even with gremlins mucking. Gives it a real-feel. And of course the choir representing their voices for all to hear. Missed the first part of the show but will catch up on it now. Looking forward to the next The Write Answers, Rhonda!

I enjoyed your show @rhondak! Thanks for sharing your talents with us.
