So, a larger number of tumor-suppressor genes + slow metabolism (less cell division) = less risk of developing cancer! Problem solved :P
it doesn't make much sense for the evolution to invest in cancer defense mechanisms in these animals simply because it is more likely that they will die of some external factor, such as predators
Mather nature can truly be stingy sometimes!
