Cymatics: The Secrets of Visible Sound
Art + Science = ?
(Visible Sound. Photograph of sound vibration through liquid. The frequency you are seeing here is 27.4 hz. From: https://www.instagram.com/journey.of.curiosity/)
We are naturally fascinated by 'Cymatics', as sound isn’t something we think of in a visual form. The multiple forms of geometry, symmetry and beauty that emerges through the resonance of sound through various physical mediums, allows us to ponder the nature of sound, vibration, form and many more questions. The vibration of the universe is the key to life and movement. Indeed everything is vibration manifesting in different ways!
What is Cymatics?
From Greek: κῦμα, meaning "wave", is a subset of modal vibrational phenomena. Cymatics is the study of visible sound and vibration. The term was coined by Hans Jenny (1904 - 1972) a physician and natural scientist. In 'Cymatics: The Study of Wave Phenomena he concluded, "This is not an unregulated chaos; it is a dynamic but ordered pattern"
Here is a sample of some of my creations. Would love to hear your thoughts!
(The Iris of sound. 37.4 Hz. Just Water, Light and Sound Vibration)
(Visible sound mandala of 132 hz. Experimenting with colour.)
(Visible sound. This is a photograph of 88hz frequency vibration. I see the birth of a flower and a hexagon.
What do you see? 🤔)
So join me on my journey of experimentation in Visualising Sound Vibrations & constant learning.
Revealing the hidden structures of nature through the transformation of chaos into order, giving visual form to sound as geometries of frozen music. With other observations & curiosities along the road.

I’m always fascinated in hearing people’s thoughts and what questions the structures of resonance and visible sound poses, so what does it pose to you? 🤔
