What a peculiar type of mushroom, I've never heard of an earthstar! Seems an appropriate name. Thanks for the well-documented and thorough identification attempt, as always!
They are among the real odd balls imo. I don’t fully understand the evolutionary basis for their strange tentacle design. But it must be fairly significant because they’re quite successful as an organism.
