Interesting facts about our speech: why can we talk?
Did you know that when talking makes a person easily switch from the "hit or run" mode to the "relax and enjoy" mode? All these decisions we take depending on how and what we say, as well as what sounds are pronounced: intimate, indistinct - up to the victorious cry ....
At the moment when we want to say something, the impulse from our brain (Wernicke area) is transmitted to the control center of the language and the speech apparatus (Broca motor center). And before the necessary words get to us on the tongue, our thoughts manage to visit the associative zones of the cerebral cortex.
It is in this zone, depending on the situation, each our thought gets a kind of "packaging" - out of humor, or officialdom. After that our brain checks whether the connection between the parts of the entire speech structure is well established, and only after that we pronounce the words.
The area of Wernicke is located in the posterior part of the temporal gyrus of the dominant (most often left) hemisphere of the brain - and it was discovered in 1873 by the German psychoneurologist Karl Wernicke. Which first came to the conclusion that the main task of this zone is the perception of the sound component of verbal signals.
So, if you want to screw up an abstruse word during a conversation, then it is not worthwhile to climb into his pocket. Instead, it's better to try and tamper with the same gyrus in the Wernicke area - in fact there, among other things, there is a field for memorizing words.
By the way, I think this state is well known to everyone - when the right word spins on the language, and it does not turn out well. This phenomenon physiologists call the phenomenon "prescave" - which most likely arises from a disorder in the field of memorizing words.
And how to cope with this trouble, unfortunately so far no one really knows. Even one of the researchers of this phenomenon, Bennet Schwartz, once confessed: "In my book I talked about this phenomenon, but I know very little about it, so the book is so thin."
Why can not the mute speak?
However, in comparison with the failure of the main centers of the speech district, the presque will seem like nonsense: when a violation of work in the Wernicke area, a person experiences sensory aphasia - a person ceases to perceive someone else's speech and loses control over his own, going into incoherent reasoning. And if the violations touch the center of Brock, then our language literally begins to stumble - "in this case, a person is able to publish except that mournful mooing."
In addition, not only sounds, but also visual stimuli, including those important for the verbal process are transformed in speech centers: for example, those responsible for the perception zone to the letter.
This zone does not just control our scribbles, but also archives samples of handwriting, letters of the native alphabet and much more ... Therefore, unbalance of the speech center will cost a person the ability to write and perceive written speech - that is, to read.
As long as the dominant hemisphere is working so that we can discuss news, movies, from the heart to sing in the shower, the other hemisphere (usually right) also does not stand idle. With its help, we distinguish the semantic and tonal colors of speech and visualize a variety of images - from the siege picture of the fortress to the accumulation of the number of soldiers on its walls - all during listening or reading.
Why do we talk to ourselves?
Have you ever talked to yourself? I think that yes .... After all, in fact, even at the moment when we are silent, in our minds non-stop hot discussions are unfolding. In this there is nothing strange or terrible, because their source is our own thinking.
This process is formed in every person in childhood: in the process of knowing this world, which usually takes place in a game form - children very often say in their ears what they are doing.
And if you see how the kid is crying that he needs to bring water from the puddle and wash the car - it's very nice. Unlike if you heard a similar monologue from an adult. At the beginning of life, latent verbalization helps us to adjust the thinking process to the right wave, and as we grow older, the dialogue with oneself turns into an inner one.
By the way, in some cases, to comment on the rumor of their actions or thoughts is useful not only for children, but for adults as well - with forced tooth-healing, the brain is able to remember twice as much information if it is recorded on the visual and auditory matrix in parallel.
But do not forget that empty and pointless conversations, including oneself - language spam - do not just clog up the airwaves: they can even influence the life expectancy to some extent. For example, medical workers are almost from the first year of learning that one careless word can easily kill a patient.
This phenomenon in medicine is called the iatrogenic effect - a negative effect on the patient's condition. This method was used by shamans who made conspiracy to die many thousands of years ago, and today they have adopted pseudo-healers: they frighten impressionable clients, and then offer healing for a solid fee.
However, the risk of earning iatrogenic psychopathy depends on your education, satisfaction with life and a sense of healthy pofigism - "and if you think about it, these are the factors that distinguish a person from dumb creatures ....".
