I wonder is the search for dark-matter also tied to these searches? Is there any hint yet of any new particles that could explain dark matter or even dark energy?
You have many models where the extra force is what connects dark matter (and actually an entire dark sector) to the Standard Model. However, you can also have an extra force without dark matter, and dark matter without any extra force.
Nope. The nature of dark matter is still unknown. And for dark energy, we are living in an even darker place (yeah... stupid joke :p ).
