The Higgs boson discovery happens to be one of the most tested theories of all time. What makes the rise of Higgs Boson epic is the fact that the properties of the Higgs boson are fully compatible with the expectation of the Standard Model.
That is not totally correct. The Higgs boson discovery is not a theory and actually allowed to give an extra test of the Standard Model of particle physics. I would personally be more excited of the properties of the Higgs would be different from the expected ones. This means some new phenomenon would be present. :)
