Hello Steemit friends,

es gibt wirklich einen Steem-Wal, den man im Binnenhafen von Harlingen (Niederlande) per Blockchain spritzen lassen kann! Alles was Du brauchst ist mindestens 1 STEEM oder 1 SBD. Ich fand die Idee Steem ins reale Leben zu bringen so toll, das ich jetzt was dazu schreibe, um den 🐳 zu unterstützen. Denn ich glaube es fehlt dem Wal noch was ❓

really there is a SteemWhale in the harbor of Harlingen (Netherlands) which you let spray per blockchain! All you need is just 1 STEEM or 1 SBD. I was so amazed by the idea to bring Steem to real life that i decided to write an article about to support the 🐳. Because i think the whale is missing something ❓

Ehrlich gesagt war das reiner Zufall, dass ich ihn entdeckt habe, da ich eigentlich nur nach dem Steemwhales Service für die Steem-Account-Analyse gesucht hatte (wurde m. W. eingestellt). Ich wusste zwar das es ihn gibt, da schon mal jemand in der deutschen Community mal so nebenbei einen Link geteilt hatte, der damals zeigte das der Wal gerade defekt war. Also somit ist schon mal klar, es ist kein lebendiger Wal, sondern ein ziemlich großes Modell von einem Wal was im Hafen von Harlingen liegt.

Honestly it was by accident, that i discovered him, because i was looking for the Steemwhales service for Steem account analysis (not available anymore). I knew that he existed before because long time ago a german community member posted a link and noted that the whale was out of order. So it's clear i'm not writing about a alive whale but a quite big model of a whale which is located in the harbor of Harlingen.

@roelandp ist der Schöpfer des Projektes und stellte seinen Wal erstmals im July 2018 der Community von Steem vor. Der 60 Fuß (18,288m) lange Pottwal kann auf Dein Kommando oder Spende nahezu sofort etwas Wasser spucken und wird dabei mittels Live-Stream weltweit übertragen! Was für eine lustige und smarte Idee um die Funktionsweise und Schnelligkeit gerade dieser Blockchain zu zeigen! 😁

Was ist denn nun das Besondere an diesem Wal?!

Stell Dir vor, da liegt nun dieser Wal irgendwo auf unserem blauen Planet und jedes Mal wenn Du ihn mit etwas Geld fütterst, spritzt er für Dich. Könntest Du das auch ohne Steem? Sicher doch, vielleicht wenn jemand eine PayPal-Zahlung zulässt und den Wal darüber skriptgesteuert auslöst. PayPal ist dafür bekannt auch schnell zu sein. Jetzt kommt das große ABER! Was passiert genau bei einer PayPal-Zahlung? Es geht eine Nachricht auf einem zentralen Server bei PayPal ein, dieser prüft die Transaktion für den Kunde (Walbesitzer) und bestätigt diese und dann erst kann die Fontäne ausgelöst werden. Bei Steem gibt es keinen zentralen Server.

Aller 3 Sekunden wird weltweit ein Block mit Transaktionen produziert. Nehmen wir die Transaktion für den Wal, so muss diese nicht an einem bestimmten, zentralen Ort bestätigt werden, sondern kann überall von irgendeinem Rechner der berechtigt ist Blöcke zu produzieren bestätigt werden! Man spricht hier von einem dezentralen Netzwerk was nicht eine einzelne Firma betreibt, sondern von vielen Nutzern verteilt auf der Welt betrieben wird. So kann es z. B. nicht passieren das ein zentraler Server ausfällt und somit für bestimmte Zeit keine Transaktionen mehr möglich sind (Ausnahmen bestätigen die Regel, durch etwas Zentralisierung in der noch jungen Blockchain). Ein zweiter wichtiger Punkt, die Blockchain sorgt dafür das Betrugsversuche quasi ausgeschlossen sind (Firma nimmt Geld aber führt nicht die Leistung aus, in dem Fall Wal spritzen lassen). In der Steem Blockchain muss es Konsens zwischen 21 gewählten Blockproduzenten geben, erst dann gilt die Transaktion als bestätigt.

Imagine there is this whale somewhere on our blue planet and everytime you feed him some money, he sprays for you. Would that work without Steem? Sure maybe if somebody allows a PayPal payment and triggers the whale via a script. Also PayPal is known for fast transactions. But now there is the big BUT! What happens exactly with a PayPal transaction? A message arrives at a central server at PayPal. The server checks the transaction for the customer (whale owner) and confirms it and then the fountain can be started. With Steem there is no such thing like a central server.

Every 3 seconds a block is produced which contains several transactions. If we look at the transaction for the whale it has not been confirmed at a certain, central location but can happen everywhere from any computer which is entitled to produce blocks! This is know als decentralized network which is not operated by a single entity or company but distributed by many users worldwide. For example it cannot happen that a central server is out of order and blocks all transactions for a certain amount of time (exceptions are the rule, with some centralization issues for the young blockchain). A second important point , blockchain is trustless and avoids fraud attempt (company takes your money without service, means the whale would not spray for you). In the Steem blockchain there must be consensus between 21 voted block producers only then the transaction is confirmed as valid.

Sobald Du einen Steem-Account hast (Link auch auf https://steemwhale.io/) , hast Du auch eine Geldbörse, in der Du STEEM und STEEM DOLLAR (SBD) aufbewahrst, empfangen und versenden kannst. Wenn Du jetzt z. B. 1 STEEM an @whalefountain schickst, solltest Du den Live-Stream auf https://steemwhale.io/ schon geöffnet haben, um Deine Fontäne nicht zu verpassen oder Du schaust Dir später die Aufzeichnung an! In der letzten Nachricht (Memo) wird dann noch ein Link zu einer GIF-Animation geschickt die eine Aufnahme Deiner Fontäne zeigt! 😁 Da ist mir dann auch aufgefallen das der Wal zwei Anfragen in diesem Zeitraum bekommen haben muss und meine verzögert wurde. Hier das Video vom Wal:

und hier mein Screenshot, paar Minuten davor, der von einer anderen Transaktion stammen sollte. Links oben sieht man schon den kleinen Frachter ins Bild fahren, der im GIF gerade aus dem Bild fährt.

and here is my screenshot, a few minutes before, which i think is from another transaction. On the left you can see how the cargo boat is coming into the picture, which is just leaving the GIF on the right side.

Wenn der Wal gerade nicht blockiert ist, und man möchte z. B. gerade vorbeilaufende Leute überraschen, sollte man noch folgendes bedenken:

• 3s Blockzeit der Blockchain (bis der Wal den Befehl bekommt vergehen min. 3s)
• Zeit für Aktivieren der Mechanik/Pumpen des Wal
• ca. 20s Videoversatz des Live-Stream (wenn jemand gerade am Wal vorbeiläuft, ist er eigentlich schon 30m weitergelaufen)

So kann man bestimmt 30s insgesamt rechnen, die man an Vorlauf braucht. Wenn man ein wirkliches Live-Bild hätte wären es ggf. nur 10s. Nichtdestotrotz macht es großen Spaß den Wal vom Smartphone oder heimischen Rechner tausende Kilometer entfernt zu aktivieren, mit Blockchain-Technologie! Wir sind eben weltweit vernetzt!

If the whale is not blocked by another request and maybe you wanna surprise some people just passing the whale in Harlingen you should take in consideration the following things:

• 3s block time of the blockchain (there should be at least 3s until the whale gets a command)
• time for activation of mechanics/pumps of the whale
• about 20s delay of live stream (if somebody passes the whale, he walked already 30m further)

In the end that means 30s delay which you need take in consideration. If we had a real live picture it would be about 10s delay. But no matter how long it will take it's great fun to control the whale with your smartphone or home computer, thousands of kilometers away, with blockchain technology! We are just interconnected worldwide!

The Steem Blockchain has a enormous utility!

Um es zusammenfassen, die Steem Blockchain ist schnell, sicher und zuverlässig und erzeugt ein Internet der unzensierten Informationen und Werte oder des Geldes. Das Internet wird auch nicht von einer einzelnen Person kontrolliert, was z. B. eine viel größere Freiheit von Information weltweit ermöglicht hat. Im Geldsystem erlauben dezentralisierte Blockchains wie Steem das jeder wieder zum Besitzer seines Geldes wird und kein Mittelsmann (Bank) sich dazwischen schaltet und Gebühren fordert über Auszahlungen, Transfers, Tausch und andere Services.

To summarize it. Steem blockchain is fast, secure and reliable and builds an internet of uncensored information and value or money. The Internet is also not controlled by a single person, for example that allowed much more freedom for information worldwide. In the money system blockchains like Steem allow that everyone is the owner of his money without a middlemen (bank) who works as intermediary and charging fees for withdrawals, transfer, exchange and other services.

Steem gehört in die Top10 der aktivsten Blockchains bei gleichzeitig sehr geringem Verstopfungsgrad bzw. viel Potenzial um mehr Transaktionen zu handhaben mit nur 3s Blockzeit.

Steem belongs to the Top10 the most active blockchains with low capacity utilizitation respective a lot potential to handle more transactions with just 3s block time.

Wenn ich an Spaziergänger, Touristen oder wen auch immer denke, die in Harlingen am Wal vorbeigehen, frage ich mich ob sie überhaupt verstehen

1. Wie ist der Wal dorthin gekommen?
2. Warum spritzt er ab und zu?
3. Wofür steht er bzw. welche Botschaft soll er senden?

Im vergangenen Juli 2018 bekam unser großer Freund einiges an Aufmerksamkeit von der Krypto bezogenen Presse, aber ich denke jetzt ist er beinahe vergessen.

If i think of walkers, tourists or whatever person who passes the whale i ask myself if they even have the faintest idea

1. Why is the whale there?
2. Why he sprays sometimes?
3. For what message does he stands?

He got some attention from the crypto related press last July 18 but i think nowadays our big friend is almost forgotten.

Einige Ideen:

1. STEEM-Schriftzug und das zugehörige Logo am Wal visualisieren (Lackierung, Flagge, ..), die Marke verbreiten, Leute dazu animieren im Web danach zu suchen

2. den Nutzer-Handle des Spenders auch vor Ort visualisieren, wenn die Fontäne steigt, den Leuten vermitteln hier geht was im Hintergrund über's Internet ab, Neugierde wecken, z. B. den Link zur Website bewerben.

3. regelmäßige Spendenaktionen zur Walfinanzierung und darüber hinaus auf Steemit & Co.

some ideas:

1. visualize STEEM-sign and logo on the whale (paint, flag,..), market brand, motivate people to search the internet

1. visualize user handle near the whale when the fountain springs, show people that something happens in the background on the internet, arouse curiosity

1. regular donations to finance whale and for more good purposes on Steemit & Co.

Letztlich hat der Wal aber schon jetzt Zeichen gesetzt und ich hoffe ihn mit meinem Artikel wieder ein Stück bekannter zum machen auf Steem und darüber hinaus.
