On an ordinary workday

On an ordinary workday, I was racing against time as a delivery driver for Glovo, moving through crowded streets to meet my deadlines. As I approached a busy intersection, the unexpected happened; suddenly, a car veered toward me without warning. I couldn’t avoid it. I felt my bike shake violently before I found myself thrown onto the ground.

In a single moment, everything changed. My bike lay sprawled on the asphalt, and a wave of sorrow and fear washed over me as if they had fallen with the bike. I started to grasp what had happened when I saw my fellow delivery drivers running towards me. Some left their bikes behind, others raised their hands in reassurance. They stood by my side, checking if I was okay, offering help, their faces filled with concern.

It was a moment where everyone gathered as if we were one family, in the middle of an intersection teeming with cars and passersby. I felt their support surrounding me, calming my anxiety, and I realized then how lucky I was. Despite the pain from the accident, the warmth of their solidarity helped me face the situation with resilience. I learned that our lives as delivery workers are not just about delivering orders, but also about facing dangers and valuing the moments when we stand by each other.
