STEMng Digest: Week 28

This is the 28th episode of the #stemng digest series where we bring to you some of the best posts under the #stemng tag in the past week.

For those that do not know yet, stemng is a sub-community of steemSTEM, a community-driven project which seeks to promote well-written and informative Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics posts by Nigerians on Steemit. The project involves submitting quality STEM-related posts to the steemSTEM management for upvoting and resteeming where applicable.

As we usually do, we have sifted through the stemng tag and even though there were several good posts to choose from, below are the posts that stood out for week #28.


Saturday: Let's Talk About Exercise - The Magic Pill And How It Affects Our Brain


Here we are to kick off the 28th edition of the stemng digest, and @menoski's article was the first pick for this edition. We all know that exercise is good for us. The post looks at how exercise affects the brain.


Sunday: THE MIND GAME OF STAGE-FRIGHT


Ever scared half to death when called upon to address a crowd of people or just a group of people ion a room? You are not alone, it is the stage fright which @lawkay examines in his post.


Monday: What makes wine cry? Let's explore from the first principle the "Tears of wine" - A case of Marangoni effect


Do you know that wines cry? Well, the "tears" has some scientific explanation and @temitayo-pelumi did justice to it by given an in-depth explanation of the phenomenon known as the Marangoni effect.


Tuesday: A triangular approach to the reason plastic melt in hot oil but not in boiling water


The @olasamuel's article brings us the reason that makes plastic spoons to melt in hot oil whereas they do not replicate the same characteristic when dipped in a hot water.


Wednesday: Carbon Monoxide Detectors: Why You Need Them In Your Homes & How They Work (Part 1)


Carbon dioxide related deaths are on the rise and @eurogee is here to spread the good news of carbon dioxide detectors. It is a simple, inexpensive device which could be a lifesaver in some situation.


Thursday : Superfluidity: Liquid light as the 5th state of matter, its strange production at room temperature and relevance to physics


The @emperorhassy wrote on the fifth state of matter- the Bose-Einstein Condensate (BEC). From there the article looks at the high-speed levitating trains that require superconducting elements to operate.



Friday: Telecommunication Principles #1: Microwave Transmission


The last pick of the week is from @henrychidiebere. The principles of telecommunication as it concerns microwave transmission.
