Welcome to the new StemQ Digest!

The StemQ team is delighted to present you a brand new Digest which we hope to be able to deliver to you on a (roughly) weekly basis!

In the Digest editions you will find information about the latest StemQ news, best weekly contributions, tips and much much more!

Enjoy your reading!

What is StemQ?

StemQ is a questions and answers (Q&A) application focusing on Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) subjects.

Using StemQ users can post specific questions about STEM related topics and let other StemQ users answer those questions.
All while earning Steem cryptocurrency!

StemQ is now live!

Last week saw the launch of the StemQ website, officially available at:
https://www.stemq.io

It was a nervous day for @irelandscape who took the plunge and flicked the power switch on to power this brand new application!

With the help of @driplo, @nothingismagick, @ziapase and others, the long planned beta release finally came to life and it was exciting to see curious steemians converging towards the site.

Q&A highlights

Here is a sample of the first contributions posted on StemQ.

What is the physical meaning of Maxwell's equations?
by @irelandscape

@irelandscape attempts to explain the meaning of Maxwell's famous four equations which defined the fundamental laws of electromagnetism and paved the way for the emergence of radio transmission technologies.

What is an enzyme?
by @justtryme90

What is an enzyme? And how does it differ from a proteine?

How does the shape of enzymes allow binding to substrate and the resulting products?

@justtryme90 provides some elements of answers to those important questions.

Q&A, a new format for your STEM articles

We are all used to submit an article about a specific subject through one post.

StemQ brings in a new way of writing about a subject by encouraging people to discuss about a particular topic by submitting two posts.

The first post is the question.
It should have a clear a title (the question) and a body providing more information and context.

The second post is the answer and follows the conventional format of most STEM related posts.

Other steemians are then encouraged to provide additional answers to the same question, adding further valuable element of information to the existing answer.

First release upgraded to 0.1.1

A few days on and the original 0.1.0 release has already been upgraded to 0.1.1.

This new feature brings in the following features and bug fixes:

  • Questions and answer post drafts are now saved and restored when coming back to the editing page, even after browser restart.
  • Added clickable unobtrusive navigation buttons to the card swipers on the home page, when viewed on a desktop computer.
  • Added confirmation dialog when a question/answer post is attempted to be submitted without any image.
  • Added support for direct image links, as supported on Steemit, Steempeak, Busy and other Steem apps.
  • pull-left and pull-right div classes are now supported.
  • Fix for automatic logout on steemconnect token expiration.

StemQ needs YOU!

SP Delegation

One of the key factors that will determine the success of StemQ in the future is our capability to significantly reward quality contributions.

Furthermore we would like to add many cool features which will greatly enhance everyone's experience while using the app.

All of the above can be achieved but would require significant Steem power.

For this reason the StemQ team is seeking generous steemians to delegate SPs to the project.

Many thanks to @katerinaramm for being the first StemQ delegator!

If you would like to delegate some SPs to the project, you can follow instructions on how to do so on this post or use one of the following delegation links:
10 SP | 20SP | 50SP | 100SP |500SP|1000SP

I think this is one of the platforms that promises a lot for STEEM adoption, which I think is very important. That is why I delegated 100 SP to you eight now. It might not be much, but for me it is.

I also think you should think about working more closely with @steemSTEM. Have you thougjt about it already?

Hi and thank you very much for your very generous delegation.

Every little help and 100SP is a lot for many.

Your delegation will help others being rewarded for their hard work and quality contributions.

Yes we are in touch with steemstem and their team is offering great advise and ongoing assistance.

Many thanks once again.

As far as I know, you are the face behind @stemq so I will just answer both comments here. No point in doing it twice to the same person.

I realize that 100 SP is a lot for 95% of people on Steemit but in the grand scheme of things with walles on steemit which are the main pushers of profit it is not a lot. And therefore I hope you achieve some massive support or partnership with some of these massive users.

Unfortunately at the end of the day, if people do not get massive profit for their work, people will not use the dApp I am afraid. I am not saying this is a problem of StemQ. You must understand this. StemQ is I think a very good use of a dApp on STEEM. Before I ramble too much, let me just conclude with a summary of what I wanted to say.

I really really hope you can manage some partnership that make your dApp into the mainstream. If you think I personally can help in any way, please let me know. You can comment on any of my posts and I will surely answer you, as I constantly look over replies to me.

Due to the price of Steem, any meaningful curation requires mindblowing: 1.000.000 Power! (*to be able to give 10 x 50$ per day)

In order to have "self-sustainable authors", their average power should be about 100.000. For 100.000 ... I could buy 3 Porsches and rent them, or 1 Porsche + Apartment :D

So after a year, decentralised network means that the users with no backing from the "centralized" communities can earn - absolutely nothing. 1$ per day is a dream

Yes, currently the only way to be able to provide meaningful rewards to good content is through massive backing from several whales.

I'll see what I can do...

Just to be completely clear... My comments were not ment to discourage you. Keep trying. Your project is good and also importantly, young. So just keep trying.

Of course, I took your comment the right way! 😁

You are absolutely right. And it is definitely in my plans to seek partnership sooner rather than later.

Thanks for your support!

On behalf of the StemQ community, many thanks for your generosity @maticpecovnik.

We will publish a list of all delegators on the next Digest.

@stemq Thank you for providing details in deep. I hope that after reading this post many people will join us..
