Bangladesh is now planning to launch the second satellite Bangabandhu-2, said Telecommunication and Information Technology Minister Mustafa Jabbar.

The government has already filed an application to the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) for allotment of two orbital slots at 100 degree and 74 degree East longitude. One of them is being considered for Bangabandhu-2.

It will be operated from Betbunia Ground Station in Gazipur and Rangamati. Although the Thales of France were bought from Alina Space. He said, they will now run more tests before starting commercial operations. The commercial operation will begin within three months.

The implementation of this satellite project will cost around three thousand crore. This satellite will have 40 transponders, 20 of which will be kept for use in Bangladesh and the rest will be able to earn foreign currency.

The government hopes this satellite will save 14 million dollars per year in foreign satellites through satellites. At the same time, you can earn huge amount of money by paying rent to countries like Nepal, Bhutan.
