The Rebirth of Aeon

by Tie Chee Weng

In life, he is neither human nor animal, but a sentient with no purpose. His name is Aeon. He can see future and past, he is the being that has been created by the unknown. The only problem is that the more he tries to see the future or the past, his memories will be altered. By his appearance, he has a pair of beautifully coloured black beady eyes, with stubby hands and legs. His skin is made of tinfoil, and of course, his tummy can fill anything inside as it is empty. In a peculiar surrounding, Aeon appears on the ground and awakens with his core within shines brightly. The story of Aeon begins in a wasteland.

He began to blister as he slowly opens his eyes, looking utterly humorous. He unplugs the wire in his tummy where the wire ironically grows on the surface. As he unplugged the wire, he began to walk slowly on the surface of wasteland. Walking, walking and walking, taking a step cautiously for a thousand miles with no destination. Day turning to night, he reaches the mesa and sits atop of its steep grassy side. He looks upon the celestial night only to see a flock of shooting stars falling across the night sky. "clink!" A loud thud could be heard in his head. "As long as you remember me, you will never be alone," a whisper in his head echoes. He began to feel sorrow and isolated. He tries to find what triggers the whisper to appear in his head. He continues to look the sky, pondering the indefinite memories in his head and tries to make sense. The only thing that seems to make sense for him is friendship. At the same time, he cannot be sure if the memories he sees are true or false. Aeon could not stop thinking about the mysterious echo and so he tries to ignore the whisper that he has heard.

He jumps off the steep grassy mesa, falling down the steep rock face and hits the surface of seemingly as a floating square metal.

The surface appears on his sight, in which he began to walk over it every step. One step, two step, he takes a thousand steps pacing with persistent and determination in finding where this floating square metal leads him. Day in and day out, after he stopped into taking another step, he sees a steam-punk looking city on land. He jumps over the floating square metal surface and has him off rough landing.
