Catherine became depressed, she mopped around, from a once very playful kid to someone who just sit and stares, her friends tried all they could to make her playful once again, yet no success, she preferred to just sit outside and looked on as others play... And to worsen the issue was the fact the other little girl selected by her school, since it was mandated that all schools bring two children to represent them, the other girl chosen was awarded the scholarship, and Catherine was 100% more intelligent, reasons her teachers and headmistress had so much faith and went as far as contributing half of the money for her, so her dad won't say it's because of money, only for her father to go gamble with the money and of course he lost it all..

Now the other girl got the scholarship to school abroad, thinking of it made Catherine cried again... She saw as the girl and her parents got into the car to take her to the airport... The little girl ran down of the car before it moved, got to where Catherine sat, and gave her a hug... Then ran back and that was it.

Chinedu knew he was a failure, his decision to play with the future of his daughter, didn't just cause him discomfort, but her teachers and neighbors, friends who heard about it didn't leave the matter alone, everyone just had something to say to make him feel worse off, they should drop the issue already, another opportunity will come, he was sure of it... But the difficult part was going to try and make his daughter forget.

Chinedu tried everything he could think to make Catherine happy, she just won't, it's been weeks since that incident, yet, all she does is go to church and involved herself so much in the children choir and activities, Chinedu missed her playful self, he missed he watching out for him, when he was gambling at home, he made her stay outside to keep an eye out for cops or his pastor, he didn't want either to know his house was used.... In those days, Catherine would stay out till past midnight, sometimes sleep off, but since the incident, she withdrew, and Chinedu was feeling too guilty to actually force her to cheer up, he messed up, and he knew he messed up big time…!!
