Rise from broken wings

in #story7 years ago

Kranti was a naive and an innocent village girl. She always wants to be a doctor.

She was the elder daughter among four children. When she turned 15, her parents started looking for alliance and she was adamant to study. She was reluctant for marriage and once she had entered the class 10th. They got her married to a homeopathic doctor who was ten years older than her.

She used to cry day and night. She felt disconnected with her in laws and she was disheartened because of her broken dreams. Her life was restricted to the four walls.

She became pregnant and one day she heard of a medical camp in her village. She went there and she was waiting for her number. Suddenly she saw the doctor was giving training about first aid to her assistant nurses. She was watching carefully and admiring them. Her number came, she asked her queries related to the training which she had seen. Seeing her enthusiasm the doctor encouraged her to study. She was clueless how to do that? She was four month pregnant and she had not attended the class since last 7 months.

The doctor said where there is a will, there it is a way and only you have to find it. She told her about her dream to be a doctor. The doctor said you can be a doctor, even if you cannot be a doctor, you can be a nurse. There was a sparkle in Kranti's eyes.

She went home to talk to her husband. But found that her husband is fully drunk. Her husband's clinic was not working, so he became alcoholic. She thought to talk to her mother in law, she denied. She became sad and lost the hope.

One day her father in law got the heart attack, everybody was helplessly running for some medicine or water. There was no comfort. They brought the car but hospital was very far. So everybody was tensed about the deteriorating health of her father in law. Then Kranti remembered the first aid training she saw for heart attack, what need to be done in emergency.
She helped her father in law by providing aid through the first aid training she had seen. Till the time they reached she was constantly helping him and when doctor saw him, he appreciated the help of Kranti.

Her mother in law became so happy that she gave her permission to study. Immediately after her delivery she gave her exams and passed. She completed her school through private education and then opted for nursing course. With all her hard work she became nurse. In between these years, she was blessed with three kids, one boy and two girls. Her alcoholic husband remained the same. She got the job in government hospital and became the first nurse of her village. Now her village people used to call her daughter instead of daughter in law.

Her delivery happened at home so she had decided that one day when she will be nurse, she will open her clinic and then she took the clinic of her husband and opened the maternity center. She used to call the doctor on weekends and took care of pregnant ladies like mid wife. She gained popularity and became a known name in local household of her village.

One day her alcoholic husband met accident, after spending 2 weeks at hospital, he became back to the home. She took care of him day and night. This melted his heart and he joined rehabilitation on the request of his wife. After recovery, he joined the clinic of his wife and started assisting her.

Their elder daughter cleared the medical exams and like her mother became the first female gynaecologist of her village.

Just because of the courage of Kranti, she not only improved her life. But she brought the change in her village. She was exactly like her name.

She dared to dream and rises from her low point to reach the height.
