A PLEA

in #story7 years ago

I went to his house that evening, determined to plead with him.

"Please its enough, Mark" I told him. "Let's bury the hatchet once and for all".

He smirked flippantly.

" Well, I don't have no hatchet to bury, Jane".

"Please..." I pleaded. "We can't be like cats and dogs forever, Mark"

He rose to the door and opened it wide.

"Unfortunately for you Jane, I love cats and dogs" he remarked distastefully, then nodded towards the door.

Tears ran down my eyes as I made for the door.

"I have really turned a new leaf Mark. I swear."

He shook his head, pushed me out and banged the door behind me.

Outside, the rain was falling. I was crying and my mind kept thinking about silly things: like if there was indeed some magic that could turn a new leaf into an old one..
