Dark Places Bring Light Things
Her heart was pounding. She shook in the dark willing her heart to slow down. She knew that if she could not calm her heart she would bleed out. Try as she might she could not get the face of the creature out of her mind. She shivered from the thought of it. The glowing yellow eyes that reminded her of a goats eyes and how they saw through her haunted her. “What am I going to do?” she thought. When the wind blew, she swore it was its breath on her face. The wind changed and she knew that she had to move. She had tied off her arm but she knew if it was close, it would smell her blood. Suddenly she heard a sound. Her heart began to pound again and her arm started to throb. She fell back over the rock she had been sitting on. She could feel the mud sticking to her as the moisture rushed through her clothes. She could smell his breath and hear its claws scraping the trees. Her blood ran cold it was coming and she had no more energy to fight. She had lost too much blood to run. Then she saw them. The glow of them pierced the dark, those big yellow goat eyes. The smell of its putrid breath wound its way into her senses and her stomach turn. She wretched but nothing came up her stomach was empty. As she resigned herself to the fate of her family before her, she caught a glimpse of a bright light from the corner of her eye. The creature was upon her but the light. “Was it fire?” she wondered. Her head began to spin; she could feel herself losing consciousness. As she went out, she saw a flash of the most glorious being. She sunk into the void with only the sight of the huge golden wings embedded in her memory.
